Hunter Fanaway Indoor Ceiling Fan with Lights and Remote Control, 48", Brushed Nickel

The media could not be loaded.  My original review was five stars: Saw this at our friends and liked it. Immediately ordered it for our new home and our friend installed it. My husband loves it so much he wants me to order three more but I am hesitating as they are so much more expensive. Hoping to find them on sale sometime.A little over a year later, when we have finally moved full time into our new home (less than three months ago) I happened to be at our friend’s home (same friend as above) and she told me her light started flickering so they bought a new light, but it wasn’t the problem. Turns out it was the ballast but it was out of warranty. When she called to talk to someone else, they not only sent her a new ballast, but said they have had tons of complaints and problems with it. I thought I’d better check on my purchase date and contact them in advance, but the very next day, it happened to me! Ironic!!! So I contacted Hunter and spoke to a nice man who processed my request with the stipulation I send proof of purchase, which I did. However, here is my main concern. I bought two of these fans, and one of their Classic Hideaway models, and he said the ballast is no longer being made but they had some in stock. I tried to get two more for when the other two go out, and he said he couldn’t do that because they don’t know if it will go out. I asked what the price to buy them would be, and am considering buying replacements because this fan is very expensive. (I bought it for more than it is selling for now.). But how do we know if it will just happen again and again? I looked up Hunter Fan on Better Business Bureau and it gets good marks, but the comments in it are similar. And if you read some of the other reviews here, many of us have the same issue.So...if you still want to buy this very trick light, I suggest you buy the four year warranty, because odds are, it will fail.

Great fan overall, there are a few annoying details. I'm about a month in to using them. I'll list the good and bad:Good:1) It's very quiet even at maximum speed2) Relatively easy to install3) Love the retractable bladesBad:1) The remotes are annoying, they don't sit well in the cradle on the light switch and most importantly, if you have to they won't fit in light switches that are side by side because the remote flairs out for no reason. What was Hunter thinking?2) Why put a 4000K bulb in this vs a 2700K. When I lit it the first time my wife said no way. I had to find a 2700K circline bulb. For those of you not familiar with color spectrum, 4000K is really harsh white light.

Love the fan, extremely quiet and looks great. Only subtracting one star for 3 things: #1: Light is relatively dim. Has a circular fluorescent bulb that I sure hope I can find replacements for when the time comes. Would have preferred regular bulbs so I could switch out between incandescent, CFLs, or LEDs. #2: Light cover is kind of a cheap plastic. Time will tell whether it yellows or not. Would be much better as alightweight glass. #3: Installation problem: Instructions have no direction on where the receiver is to be placed in the base. It is very difficult to get in with the wiring required due to size restrictions.

How do I love this fan? Oh my goodness . . . it is so quiet, so good looking, efficient, and fun. I would like to have had it placed in my kitchen (the light is much wider than I expected and I bought it for my bedroom so it is nice NOT to hear that humming noise that most fans have). I should have shopped around more though because I saw the same fan at Lowe's for half the price. A sadder but wiser girl am I. But I still love i.

The retractable blades are the coolest. The fixture itself is a little big for our bedroom, but nice looking light. Everyone loves the way the blades retract when not in use. It was easy to install.Update - changing to four stars, we have only had for 3 months and today 11/25/18 we had to replace the ballast as the light had stopped working.

This fan is awesome! We love the look and function. Everyone who sees it, wants to know where we got it and how it works. The blades fold in, its quiet and works great to cool down the room. The only complaint is that its kind of low, we have 8 foot ceilings and its pretty low. I wish you could cut the down rod in 1/2 but that is not an option. Besides that it is an awesome fan and I highly recommend it

AMAZING to watch the blades come out when you turn it on. I wish the remote was as fancy-looking as the fan - it does not seem to match the design and/or quality - but IT WORKS!! :)

Like the fan,but the box it came in was in very bad shape and was taped top and bottom by the way it was packedthought it may be someones return but happy so far with the fan
