I like the adjustability of the tool as we have a range of ability level skiers at home. It is a great value compared to purchasing several fixed angle file holders. I suspect the fixed angles are true to spec on the listed edge angle whereas the adjustable one is likely off by a certain percentage. Not such an issue for us as we are recreational skiers with one U16 racer in the family. My only concern is with the longevity of the tool as the set screws for both the angle adjuster and file holder are plastic. I'm being careful to not over-tighten. Time will tell on how long the tool lasts.

Be sure and buy a file for it. This unit doesn't come with one. Easy to use. Set up is pretty brainless. Take smooth steady strokes and you should see good results. Follow up tune with a gummy stone and you'll be pleased with the outcome.

The piece that slides on my base scratched my base. Left long scratch parallel to edge.

This is one of the best base file guides i've ever used. It has roller wheels for the edge guide which allows it to glide smoothly. The angle adjustment is accurate and easy to see, with very simple setup. I highly recommend this product, it should last for many many years.
