I understand the utility of a Sharp knife, but as I get older, my hands are less able to handle extensive knife sharpening. I bought this because of the reviews and the price. Once it got here I went on a sharpening binge. I sharpened every single knife in my knife drawer in less than an hour. Beautiful edges, sharp enough to cut paper. Don't throw away your old knives, get this instead it is easy to use and will extend the life of your knives.

I work with a lot of other people who have to keep their work knife sharp. Everyone has their own device they use to keep their blade sharp, but hands down the best one was this electric unit. It was good to fix my dull knife and keep it sharp so I had bought my own. I have used it on several of my knives at home to restore their former glory.

I bought my first knife sharpener and was very pleased with it. A few months later I got another one just like this one for my birthday. I gave my first one to my daughter and son in law who finally wore there's out. She called me asking where I got it and told me what happened. They used that knife sharpener for 10 or 11 years before it wore out. Since it's Christmas I ordered them another one. They were very happy to get another one and are still thanking me for their gift. As far as I am concerned I will continue to order and use this as long as it's available when i need to order another one

It worked ok for the first couple knives. It is very coarse, so it makes a rough edge quickly. After that, the sharpening wheels degraded quickly. They disintegrated to the point that they barely touched the blade. This also left a mess of dust from the wheels. This happened the first day from sharpening six or seven knives.

The sharpening stone is uneven. One side is fairly smooth while the other side is out of round and causes the blade to bounce about even though it's one stone. The edge is what you would expect from a medium stone which requires a fair amount of time on the ceramic V manual sharpener to tame. The unit bogs down easily as the motor is fairly weak. It also sounds as if it's full of pebbles while not obnoxiously loud it is not quiet. It works great for a needed quick edge on hunting or bush craft knife but I wouldn't use for your fine cutlery. It also leaves a good amount of stone dust around the unit. Oh and a 12v car adapter included would be nice.

I would recommend this to anyone who uses knifes it makes sharpening them way easier good product solid build the cord is a decent length so you can have it up on a table n plugged in near the baseboard which is convenient.I tested it out today on this old buck knife I had and after a couple passes through the smith 5000 my knife was like brand new, very user friendly n the motor is quiet which is also a plus.
