Excellent for the price

There are many people who just need to drill a few holes in masonry - this drill is suitable. It drilled 1/2" holes 2" deep in concrete block in 30sec/hole using a new carbide Dewalt bit. (a non-hammer drill might take 30 min) No over heating, no problem with chuck grip. Would have taken half an hour with a non-hammer drill. Because I saw several reviews complaining about the chuck, I lubed it with teflon spray before starting. Cheap design requires one to use the torque of the drill motor to tighten the chuck - however, it worked fine, and it's price was indeed cheap. This drill did the job I needed perfectly for the price I needed. It's not a pro tool - they cost at least 3x as much.

Just to let you know: A few years back I purchased a 20v Drill from Black and Decker and was amazingly surprised that it worked so well. Especially since it was priced much lower than other brands. This new hammer drill that I recently purchased is actually one of the best investments I have ever made; and; for the price, if you need one you are nuts for not buying this. I have had a large outdoor umbrella on a stand that I previously had bricks stacked on all four legs to keep it from falling over. Within an hour, I drilled 8 holes into cement and screwed them down with 2 1/2 screws. It is now very sturdy and is permanetly connected to the cement slab. (which can be removed if I decide to move it somewhere else. If you have any doubts about Black and Decker drills, forget them. These are fine products well deserving of a 5 rating.

Incredible concrete boring speed! Feels heavier duty than expected for the price. I drove multiple 4 inch deep holes in a concrete wall to install heavy duty shelves anchors. Very little vibration.

I didn't read this anywhere, but this drill is also REVERSIBLE! After four 6in. and eight 3in. concrete hammer drill holes accomplished, this drill paid for itself. I pampered the drill by periodically allowing it to cool by running it no load until the air coming out was just warm. The trigger failed to run the drill smoothly (0-2800RPM). It had a dead spot, it would then jump to full speed. My first contact with Black+Decker support was excellent (my unit was 30 days old)- a new unit would be on the way after I provided a screenshot of my Amazon order confirmation. My second contact with B+D support was horrible. Long story short, the unit was replaced. Though this unit is not a beast, it does EVERYTHING in a small mannor. For $40.00, no complaints.

First use, chuck locked. Unable to remove drill bit. Took it to the local hardware store and they couldn't unloosen it. Told by repair area the drill is cheap junk. Returning.

In the world of impact drills, you get what you pay for. This impact drill from Black and Decker works well and it is simple to use. The drill works far better at drilling into concrete than a conventional drill and I completed about 50 holes in concrete before the keyless chuck failed. The keyless chuck that is installed is not capable of handling the abuse of impact drilling. Note that even though the drill says 1/2" it is in fact a 3/8 drill. The side plate on the drill says 1/2 in (13mm), but the connecting thread mount is 3/8'' - 24UNF. Better than expected for the price. Lightweight too. Comes in handy for any projects where you need to drill into masonry.

It's easy to drill a hole on the concrect or stone. It's very good product.
