Simple Homebrewing: Great Beer, Less Work, More Fun

A whimsical and grounding guide to home brewing
I'm a new homebrewer and have been reading and absorbing everything I can. Heard about this book from Brad Smith's Beersmith podcast... and this book a breath of fresh air.In a cheerful, rollicking way Drew and Denny cover key homebrew topics in discrete chapters. There's no reason to read this book linearly (though it's enjoyable to do so. It is just as effective flipping directly to the chapter of greatest interest and reading there. In the digital version, hyperlinks allow cross-references between chapters. Every chapter has not only a recipe illustrating the main topic, but an interview with a pro or established brewer to add the light of experience. For me, the chapter on small scale brewing was not only a revelation but also empowering. I've been thinking I MUST scale to five gallons shortly...but why? Drew and Denny lay out many good reasons why small-scale brewing is not only adequate but even preferable. That is just one example. There is a lot of material here, and this will be a reference I will come back to time and again. If this book isn't enough, I commend to you their Experimental Brewing podcast.

Great Beer, Less Work, More Fun
The title of the book really says it all. Both Denny and Drew are here to present you with ideas of how to simplify your brew day without sacrificing on quality. This is a hobby that loves to get bogged down in toys, get paranoid about details, and continue to do things because it's been said on the internet forever. If you're strapped for time or not enjoying the hobby as much, this book is for you.Personally, I've found it to be a great way to take a step back and reassess my brewing and think about ways to cut the fluff. I also think the recipe design and recipe templates are a great idea to start building my own templates and to test new ideas.Either seasoned or beginner, I think you'll get a lot of value out of this book and it's been a great addition to my library. Highly recommended.

I love this book!
This is a fun book. Lots of ideas targeted at simplifying the brew process. There are sections on water chemistry and all the various home brew processes as well as how to design recipes and a lot of provided recipes. A great book for experienced as well as newby brewers. This book is a little outside the normal box so there should be something in there that will raise your eyebrows and some new ideas.
