If I take this and need to wake up in 8 hours will it be hard.

I only take about 1/3 a dropper and I sleep like a baby. I have never had trouble waking up from this, even by alarm clock. I do believe the instructions say to take 4 droppers? I always start meds with as little as possible and 1/3 of a dropper always does it for me.

How to best use this product?

Use as directed on package. This product works for me as a mild sleep aid. It does not have a strong narcotic effect as some prescription sleep aids do. Regards JMC

Are the markings on the dropper half a mL and a full mL?

Yes. And the directions on the back give an equation of how many mgs are in a ml -- .25. That is, you have to take four dropperfuls at 1 ml to reach a dose of 1 mg.
