Dragon Ball Z Complete Box Set

It's around 20 years ago I was first introduced DBZ. I discovered it fairly late (Was showing the start of the Buu saga for the first time in England) I had just started college and wasn't sure what all the fuss was about but after watching a marathon of the Frieza saga I was soon hooked. I bought books 1-5 with my student loan back then but at around 10 pounds each I soon realized 26 books was going to cost a fair bit so I didn't buy any more! I liked them back then but as I had a lot more free time I'd sooner sit myself in front of a TV to get my DBZ fix. Fast forward to 2022 with not-so-much free time, including taxes I spent around $150 , it works out less than $6.00 per book, a bargain! The key scenes might have been better seeing on screen *spoiler alert* (Goku turning Super Saiyan for the first time, arrival of Future Trunks, Gohan defeating cell, etc) But how many episodes were they in total again? 300 and something? Not sure when or if I'll get around seeing it all again. Didn't take me too long to read through the complete set and was left knowing I will re-read this all over again. I've got the Japanese series with subtitles on DVD that I sat through once many years ago now, so I know these English translated comic stories are probably greatly dubbed in terms of violence, gore, swearing which will no doubt disappoint many. But if you can get past that and enjoy reading comics I think you will be pretty pleased with it. A nicely designed travel case fits each book perfectly. Shipping was no problem and unlike other reviewers, my set came sealed, well-protected and undamaged. Also, be sure to look out for "I had a dream and became Yamcha" (not included in this box set). It was advertised in a number of the books and I bought it just to see what it was about. It was fan-fiction but I found it very funny, poor Yamcha!

This is an amazing collection of the greatest manga ever printed! They didn’t miss a beat with this box set. Not only does it include the entire Z portion of the classic Dragon Ball run from start to finish, it also comes with really nice bonus material. The cover art for the individual chapters are all bundled together in pristine quality at the end of each volume. The volumes themselves have cute artwork on the spines that come together to form an adorable collage of all the most important characters. And best of all, it brings with it a neat poster featuring iconic artwork of the Namek Saga on one side, and the Cell saga on the other. The box itself is a gorgeous silver briefcase of sorts with a strong handle and a golden Shenron across the background. Akira Toriyama’s stellar artwork makes it a perfect decorative piece all on its own no matter which side it faces. Aside from looking pretty, it’s a secure and sturdy place to hold the manga collection without ever worrying about dust or damage. One big complaint I have, however, is that some of the chapters are the full color variants. That would be fine on its own as a neat bonus, but unfortunately they’ve all been printed in black and white. The full color manga has a rather dark color scheme, so the images are ruined due to lack of clarity and muddled tones. Luckily, I’ve not had any major chapters be hindered by this problem. But it is an odd and sometimes frustrating choice. I would rather they commit to the original black and white print. Or if it had to be color, don’t print it in black and white and just raise the price by a smidge. Overall, though, it’s a near perfect collector’s item for any fan, with great packaging and fun bonus content.

Perfect for my hubby

I got this for my 6 year old nephew for Christmas because he’s fallen in love with the series and has some figures of different characters. He was so happy and excited opening this (we did Christmas early because he lives in another state) and he couldn’t stop smiling and jumping around. He was so pumped about it. He couldn’t wait to open it and check it out and my sister said she read him one that night when they were going to bed. He hasn’t figured out what side of the poster he wants yet or where to hang it up but the box set is next to his bed and he just stares at it sometimes.

Got exactly what I wanted and ordered. Only thing that kinda sucked was the box got a little banged up, but the books thankfully were fine.
