Best Deal on Inexpensive Home Security
I was going to be away from my home for a couple of months and wanted to do something to minimize the likelihood of someone trying to disturb the house. After reviewing every option on Amazon, I chose these, thinking that at least I was doing something. I tried them out before I left and forgot on a number of occasions to turn them off and scared myself half to death when I opened the front door to leave the house. They aren't super loud but when you are close enough to the door to open it, the sound is really startling. One of the really nice features for me, is that you have the option to turn them off without un-installing them. So at night, before I go to bed, I turn them all on which makes me sleep much more easily. Anyone skulking around your dark house at night who manages to open your door, will probably take off like a shot a second after the alarm sounds. In addition, the sound it makes will certainly wake up anyone in the house, giving you time to run around turning on lights. The unit is tiny so if the alarm sound is not loud enough for you, you can install 2 of them on a door without looking like you're paranoid. This is a great little device and worth many times it's cost.

Very good product to deter intruders
I bought this alarm and haven't used it for three months. Because I was afraid of the alarm being very loud. Finally, I took it out to try today. After I put in two small AAA batteries, turned it on and removed the small covering piece on the main big piece, the alarm went off. The noise was sudden, but not too loud to be unbearable. Now I am very happy that when I go out to work, I feel very safe that nobody dares to come into my apartment. Because as soon as the door is open, the alarm will go off. When I come home, I have to immediately turn off the alarm on the door frame after I open the door. When I leave for work, I have to turn on the alarm first before shutting the door. So whoever opens the door will be scared by the alarm first. If they are not familiar with this kind of alarm to know how to turn it off, shutting the door is the only way to stop the alarm that hopefully will deter them.I use this alarm since I suspect that people (maintenance or management) came into my apartment when I was at work. I am the kind of person who ALWAYS turns off every light before I go out. But several times when I came home, the light in the bathroom was left on that was very much to my surprise. It most likely had been left on all day long that even made the bathroom warm for which I wasn't too pleased as I had to pay for the electricity. I e-mails both the management and the maintenance crew requesting that they do not ever come into my apartment when I am not home and reminding them of the basic real estate rental laws. The e-mail also serves as a record of what they did so that if it ever happens again on which I need to take any action. But I did not tell them how I found out that they had come in. The management office e-mailed me back saying that they would never ever come in when I am not home. Of course theoretically that should be the case. They will always say that they didn't come in. (What else can they say? Admit it? They might not even know who actually came in. But this way, they will have to inform their workers to not do it again.) I responded saying that I would have never ever made such a request if I didn't have a "solid evidence" that they did come in. Then, they were silent. This alarm is working great. But I gave it 4 stars because I wish there is a remote control so that when I come home I can turn off the alarm first before opening the door, and before I leave I can lock the door first and then turn on the alarm. Right now, without a remote control the alarm goes off at least twice every day (But the alarm noise is not crazily loud that is ear-piercing and it's also short anyway) I am still very happy with it right now as it does give me a peace of mind when I am at work knowing that nobody dares to come in to invade my space and my privacy, until I find something else better that has a remote control that is also easy to use.

Okay but there are better ones.
They work good and as they should. My comments are:- Not too sticky, may fall off if close to heat/windows/doors with direct sunlight.- Not too loud. Other doberman alarm system I bought from the local store is twice as loud and almost same price.- On/Off options only. No chime.- Need alot of small betteries.Overall okay but would recommend the other Doberman product not available on amazon at the time of this review.

Not so good!!
This does not do what I thought it would do. The two pieces have to be to close together to make the needed connection. The sound is somewhat loud I would probably sleep through it.

Great Little Door Alarm
This door alarm works great. We love it. Only pros for this device and here they are:Easy to installTakes 2 AAA batteries that are easy to replaceEasy on/off switchEasy to readEasy to operateAlarm is loud enough to hear 2-3 rooms away, but don’t expect an ear-shattering alarm. No volume control. When contact is re-established, alarm turns off automatically.Overall this is a great door alarm system for a small dwelling. We would recommend and re-purchase this product.

No Dobermans here - sounds like a bird!
True, it does not SAY that it is a dog barking - I usually am very observant and do my research but this time I was in a hurry and when I entered "dog barking door alarm" on the search line- this came up as number one and then bingo - their marketing technique paid off - I saw Doberman and thought it would be a Doberman barking - WRONG! Sounds like large bird chirping, Now for someone who is afraid of parrots this might do the trick, but I was not pleased. In this day of microchips why can't they actually have a dog barking on a small size alarm? I wonder how many of these they sell to gullible people like me? Their alarm might alert you to an intruder - but only if you are in the same room or your house is very quiet - it is not very loud - but I seriously doubt it would scare off anyone away - I am not even sure they would know what that sound was. If you want a dog barking alarm - this is not it!
