C: Control - The Money and Soul of Possibility: The Complete Series (Limited Edition Blu-ray/DVD Combo)

I must be one of the few businessmen that watches anime regularly, but here are my two cents on it.Kimimaro Yoga is a Economics student that wants to get a stable job so that he can provide for himself and his future family. Having a traumatic family history, he has to work 2 part-time jobs while getting his degree. He misses out on his social life, but he tries to make things work. He is introduced to the "Financial District" by Masakaki (a weird messenger for the district) and is forced to learn how to make deals (the battles that are carried out). His Asset is Mashu (or MSYU on Yoga's card), a short-tempered "Tsundere" embodiment of Yoga's future.Cards: All people invited into the financial district are given a card, and the card they hold determines their rank within the financial district. A level 1 is a full moon within a 6 point star, level 2 are the gold cards that have a crescent moon, level 3 are the platinum card with a purple skull, and the level 4 are the darkness/black cards that have a tentacled being (possible Eldritch Abomination) that can be used to exchange a nation's future for more Midas money.Overall: The anime is heavily symbolic while trying to maintain a shounen battle equivalent to pokemon or digimon. Yoga is the everyman who is trying to scrape a living for himself and his eyes eventually open to other possibilities of creating his future on his own terms. You don't know what is going on initially (to give you a similar sense to what Yoga is feeling), but it is eventually explained by another character as a report to her superiors. I am finding new things and introduced to other business concepts while watching this anime. It is thought provoking while entertaining at the same time, but it will take a right mindset to fully appreciate it.Personal thoughts (SPOILERS!!):-Entrepreneurs are people invited into the financial district and I took note that they shortened to the term to "Entre" which is very similar to "Entree" as in part of a meal. Think about it for a while.-A hidden message seems to be that the ones who do well are the ones who take care of their Assets or futures well while learning about your strengths and weaknesses.-Yoga's goal has always been about his family, but when he finally realized that he is sacrificing his families future for his personal gain is when he drew the line. Ironically, Mikuni (the "final boss") is very similar to Yoga in that he holds his sister's life/future as very dear to him.-Each of the attacks mentioned in the anime is a term used in business or investments. Businesses can be similar to battles in this respect and it deserves to be mentioned.-I really think that Masakaki is the "cheshire cat" of this wonderland in that he can be a guide and a nuisance. He is neither good or evil since all he cares about is protecting the district and carrying out his directives (whatever they are). It is very similar to beings in H.P. Lovecraft's works.

To get out of the way... a small rant...If anyone who was watching the other anime's running around the same time as this you would almost initially realize the originality of the work and the concepts behind each of the charactors.The Opposing faction... Souichirou Mikuni,The concept of a evil do'er who partakes in the protagonist's growth of charactor, place in the story and personality brought forth in growth is in its self a new concept that struck me as somewhat refreshing. But to see a reflection in himself and try and promote a form of growth that he himself didnt have shows that the souichirou himself knows his own fall outs but, as somewhat of a normal person, rejects it.The main Charactor... Kimimaro Yoga,It was also refreshing to have a hero who wants nothing but to be self sustaining, independant, and somewhat a model of a "hard working man". Even showing that fact that he at first defends his "asset" when he could have fled shows that he could rise as a hero in this story, rather than a side charactor who's fate is to be subdjected to those around him who he cares not for. He than learns of the fate of those who lose in the quote on quote deals and faces a trial that destroys the old perception of the dream he had been working for but instead places a desire to protect a future he did not know would or would not happen. A true blue dreamer...All in all this anime is a original that makes one's self measure how hes been living and applies the lessons learned to how one 'should' live.4.5 out of 5 in my opinion...

Japan is saved from financial ruin by The Sovereign Wealth Fund. It's citizens do not live a prosperos life though. The value of the Yen is low and times are hard. Crime, suicide, and despair have taken hold. Kimimaro is a college student that aspires to be a public servant. That's the only thing he can think of to rise above the grip of poverty. One day a strange fellow approaches him with an offer. He says that if Kimmaro joins a group called the Financial District that he can make money. The catch is that in order to make a profit you must battle the other members. He gets a partner named Masho. Masho is a tenacious young girl that helps him fight. Eventually a financial phenomenon called "C" threatens to destroy the Japanese economy once and for all. There are a few members of the Financial District that think they can gain control of "C" and stop the collapse. Hense the series title "C: Control". But the control of C doesn't guarantee the future will be bright. Kimimaro and Masho must fight to rewrite the events that have set a financial crisis in motion.This series surprised the heck out of me. I didn't expect a whole lot. Sometimes a gamble pays off. This series illustrates that quite profoundly. I was able to get into many of the characters in this series. They are developed pretty well and are very interesting & colorful. This series has excellent animation, voice acting, and a good soundtrack. There is a lot of action, drama, suspense,and a little bit of romance. This series really has a lot going on as well. The plot races along at a very fast speed. It's easy to miss something if you miss even 1 episode. Overall I really enjoyed C: Control. I would like to see a sequel. It would probably be a bit redundant, but it's a great concept. I don't really think this anime will be continued, but it was left open for more if they really wanted to. Anyway, this anime is really good. I highly recommend it to any anime fan. I hope all of you enjoy it as much as I did.

これはとてもお買い得だと思いますョ。日本製を購入したら何万円もする訳ですから。ただし、リージョンコードは1で、それなりに工夫しないと再生できませんが．．．（リージョンコード1のDVD専用に、外付けのDVDドライブを使用することをお勧めします。）実は、日本でテレビ放送された「C」の英語字幕は、非常に難しい英語で、辞書だけでは、如何してそういう英語になるのか理解するのに大変苦労します。その点、このアメリカ版DVDの英語字幕は実に平易な英語が書かれていて、大変分かりやすいです。なので、このアニメの英語表現は、もっぱらこっちで理解してます。

C is a brilliant anime with a unique twist on how the world is perceived and how one's future can affect so many other peoples future, only downside is the blu-ray is region locked :(

現実と架空の世界「金融街」を行き来して、財産を奪ったり奪われたりするお話。金融街では必ず一体のサポートキャラがついて一緒に戦ってくれますが、ロボットのようなものだったり、女の子型だったり。サポートする物の形はその人の未来が影響するので、主人公のように女の子型サポートキャラの場合は、妹を亡くしていたり、愛する人を亡くしていたりすることが多いのです。サポートを受けつつ金融街で戦うと、現実世界にも影響がでます。戦いに勝てば現実世界でお金持ちに、負けると不幸が。金融街で破産すると現実世界では最悪の場合、死に近い状態になるためだれも必死です。そんな中、金融街を仕切る力を持った男と主人公が出会い話が進んで行きます。最近、不況とかデフレ、インフレという言葉がニュースでよく出てきますが、このアニメはそのあたりを扱ったものです。といってもメインはサポートキャラと力を合わせた戦いや、それぞれのキャラが持っている家庭や事情を扱っているので、堅苦しくありません。商品は、DVD版１－１１話、BD版１－１１話の合計4枚で構成されています。北米版のため、DVD版は家庭用のDVDプレイヤーでは見ることができず、パソコンなどでみることになります。画質はまったく問題なし。船便で届くため2週間ほどかかることが注意点です。特典の類はつきませんので求めるのであれば、10倍以上のお金を払って日本で購入するのがよいでしょう。

ノイタミナの隠れた名作（と私は思っています）がリーズナブルな価格で見られる！全11話という短い話のため、消化不良な点があるのは否めませんが、市場取引を基にしたバトルは斬新です。製品状態も良好でした。ひとつ残念なのは、英語字幕が消せない点ですね。そこが気にならないなら値段も安いので損はしないと思います。
