Tasty recipes, but prep time is decieving
First and foremost, the recipes are tasty. At least for the ones I have made so far. Full disclosure, I am slowly dipping my toe into the world of "plant based diets", particularly for workouts. So I like where the flavors are going. Also I am father of three. So time is a big deal for me.Here is my gripe. While all the recipes give a caption for prep time and cooking time, it's totally inaccurate...unless you have all of those particular items pre-made. Let me explain. The Mexican bowl with Pico de Gallo.Prep time says 15 min + inactive time. the inactive time is for soaking the cashews in this recipe, so that is fair. There are technically four recipes you have to have pre-assembled. The Chorizo, Quinoa, and Rice portion. Pico De Gallo, Guacamole, and Cashew Sour Cream. The quinoa and rice take 10 -15 minutes each to make. So cook them together. The Pica de Gallo take about 10 -15 minutes, as you have to chop and rough blend all these ingredients togetherThe Guacomole is about 10 - 15 minutes, as it has the same process as the Pico De GalloCashew Sour Cream, 10 -15 minutes. So unless you have all of these ingredients either purchased ahead of time, or assembled ahead of time, you are looking at 60 minutes ...easy. If you have kids running around, more like 90 minutes. So yeah, the prep times, are deceptive. Also of note, my nutrient numbers came in different than the authors. My fats came in lower and proteins came in higher, but the carbs came in significantly higher. Controlling those is tricky, because quinoa and organic brown rice nutrition information will vary by brand...apparently?Hope this helps.cheers.

The recipes are in metric!!!!
Guys. It’s british. I don’t have metric measuring spoons and cups. I wing most of my recipes anyway, but this is pushing it. The recipes look great, but be aware!!!

Its ok i guess
Nothing entirely special or unique about it except having recipes. It could do with less talk about veganism or exercise and more about actual recipes. Either new and exciting or basic staples. Nothing entirely different than any online source

Finally some alternatives to my daily beans and lentils
When I became vegan two months ago, I thought I would just eat beans and lentils to get my protein intake and I would be fine. Well, I was fine but after about a month I just became sick of pretty much eating the same food every day. I needed some inspiration. Matt's book gave me plenty of options to spice things up and use alternatives to my so "beloved" lentils :) My personal favorites are the chickpea crêpes with spinach and mushrooms as well as the banana cashew protein dessert (yummy!).

only 4 stars because there are *Zero* pics
just got this, haven't tried any of the recipes, but they all look simple and straight forward. Tofu, tempeh, almond powder and lots and lots of veggies. I would say most of the recipes i saw when flipping thru were just veggies, seasonings and some type of grain or seed. It wasn't like every recipe was tofu or tempeh -bleh...nor something weird I'd never heard of.

Ok
It was ok. Some of the information seemed dated, and yes the measurements are all in grams.. so if you're in the US.

A Fair effort but not the best
To be honest this is not the best effort at a Vegan cookbook. There are no images whatsoever to show appealing meals and the overall information about making the meals and nutritional content is lacking. Go with other more thorough books.

Simple and informative
I bought this as a present for my boyfriend this Christmas as he is vegan and into body building. We were looking for new vegan high protein recipe ideas and this book has a wide range of new and exciting recipes. The instructions are easy to follow, just what he needed to start the new year. It provides inspiration for breakfast, lunch, dinner and also snacks which is insightful and thorough. The book doesn't come with pictures, however this was not a deal breaker for us as this is down to personal preference. Highly recommend!

There are better books.....
Very poor offering, lacks content and really isn’t anything more than a few typed recipes bound into a book. The information at the start of the book is very generic and skims the surface of a very complex subject.I should also add it’s American so for some ingredients you will need to find alternatives.
