Because the Internet is the second studio album by American hip hop recording artist Donald Glover, under the stage name Childish Gambino. The album was released on December 6, 2013 by Glassnote Records and Island Records, and then four days later in North America by Glassnote and Universal. The recording process began in 2012 and ended in October 2013. Recording primarily took place at a mansion owned by basketball player Chris Bosh, which Gambino rented. Because the Internet features guest appearances from Chance the Rapper, Jhené Aiko, and Azealia Banks, with production primarily handled by Gambino, Stefan Ponce, and Ludwig Göransson, among others. The album was supported by the singles "3005", "Crawl", "Sweatpants", and "Telegraph Ave." Gambino also released a short film titled Clapping for the Wrong Reasons and a 72-page screenplay to go along with the album in promotion of it. The album received generally positive reviews from music critics, including an average score of 64 at Metacritic, based on 26 reviews. It also received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. It also performed well commercially, debuting at number seven on the US Billboard 200 and number 12 on the Canadian Albums Chart. As of December 2014, it has sold 377, 000 copies in the United States. Review: This album is worth obsessing over. 6/5 stars. - This album is stunning. Childish Gambino is a true lyrical and musical genius. Rather than the "smoke weed, f**k b****es" stories that most rappers talk about these days, which he mocks/mimics in his song Sweatpants, Gambino tells true stories of love and life through deep and insightful lyrics. The musical style is something never seen before. It is a combination of noise tracks (anywhere from moaning to dental drills) and unheard of beats and tunes. The combination of these things create an amazing album that insets a certain indescribable emotion. The album ends with a desperate, but not shouting, voice pleading "please help me", which sends shivers down your spine. The song Flight of the Navigator provides an interesting perspective of life, with tunes that go along with the lyrics and just add more and more layers to the already deep meaning of the song. Sweatpants mocks rappers who brag about things they don't have. Shadows provides a perspective on falling in true love with someone. All of this and more is waiting for you inside Childish Gambino's musical masterpiece, "Because the Internet". If you buy this album, especially the vinyl LP, please don't blast it at a party. The is not that kind of rap. When you get this album, just hit play or drop the needle, relax, and listen to it all and analyze it. Review: The Best Album - My favorite album of all time.

The Best Album
My favorite album of all time.

A perfect conceptual rap album.
If Camp was a battle of voices between Childish Gambino and Donald Glover, then Because The Internet is what happens when Childish locks Glover in the basement and invites over mc DJ. It's a beautiful dream that unravels into a wondrous nightmare. Make no mistake, this a concept album through and through, but the beats are unmatched and the arrangements entrancing. His lyrics are smart, and flow precise. With limited collaborations, Childish chose wisely: Chance the Rapper, another intelligent wordsmith, and Jhene Aiko, whose voice you will never forget. In a market flooded by auto-tuned hacks, with recycled beats, Because The Internet is a revelation. There's nothing like it, and there is nothing like Gambino. This is not an album that you blast in a frat party, this is an album where you turn up the volume, turn off the lights, close your eyes, and experience the emotion and detail that it contains.

Great for Gambino heads. Great for music fans in general .
l am a Childish Gambino fan. No doubt about it. But I don't blindly praise something that doesn't gel with me.This album is great. It didn't succumb to the hype machine. I just got the "Camp" album not too long ago so this is like a double-feature for me. This is one of the greatest albums of the year. This proves he can do beats that could kill in the clubs as well as thought-provoking top shelf storytelling. He had fun making it and I had a great time to listening to it. Really down-to-earth kind of guy with many talents. It's about time more "non-black" black artists like him and Janelle Monet are finally being recognized and respected . This gives hope to people like me that have been given the same moniker. Get this album. You will not be disappointed ! Kix & Cocoa Puffs! !

Honestly? GOAT
Definitely my favorite Childish Gambino album (his later stuff is solid, and Camp is also excellent though). It just goes so hard and I love to jam out to it in my car. Telegraph Ave. [Oakland by Lloyd] is one of my all-time favorite songs, and Sweatpants is a real banger.

Definitely worth a listen to.
Although i am not the biggest fan of his music, i decided to purchase this album to see how he has progressed since his Camp album. First time i went through the album i was impressed, i feel like he has developed a heavier flow to his rap. But i would say after the fifth time i have gone through the album i would probably skip two or three songs. In my opinion, telegraph ave. (oakland) is the best track on here. Overall i would give this album a 7.5/10. some songs are very catchy and have very thought out lyrics. not to mention his rhythm is on point, but some songs could be very soft and the beat could be a little off. I would definitely recommend

Top 5 hip hop/rap album of 2013.
Great album from Gambino. The first time i heard the album i was super disappointed because it sounded chaotic and random. After buying Camp and listening to Royalty i expected more rap in this album but its still very good. The album to me is an experience and a sort of trip through Gambinos mind. The only other album i can compare it to is Kendrick Lamars Good Kid Mad City, only in that they both are meant to be played from beginning to end and tell a story. Kendrick's story was of a good kid growing in harlem but Gambinos story is more introspective and sort of depressing. Its almost like Gambino had a epiphany in this album about love, friends, and loneliness. Overall an awesome album that is non-traditional and is good for rap/hip hop. I only wish more people knew of gambino because this is a great album.

No Words, but I'm Still Gonna Say.......
I gotta be a little honest. I grew up on Hip-Hop and am a person who loves ALL music. But, the last year or three maybe four, I've been really DISAPPOINTED with the genre. The only two artists that are keeping me from disowning hip hop entirety are Drake (my love), and this dude here CHILDISH GAMBINO. I been a fan of his acting career since Community. When he came out with his first single Heartbeat I was instantly a fan. Loved Camp. This album got me truly obsessed with Gambino, though. I listen to this album once to twice maybe even more a day since I purchased it. It's not just an album, it's an amazing experience, vibrant, dangerous, chaotic and beautiful. This is hands down the best album of the year for ME. One thousand thunbs up. My opinion :D

ES UN PRODUCTO QUE ESTA EN UN MUY BUEN ESTADO Y SU FUNCIONAMIENTO ES PERFECTO. NO HAY MAS QUE DECIR, NO ES UN AUTOR QUE ME GUSTE, PERO COMO NO ERA PARA MI, SINO QUE ERA UN REGALO PARA UNA AMIGA QUE LE ENCANTA, ACERTE PERFECTAMENTE COMPRANDOLO. :D
