Great keyboard, fragile as a wineglass
I've just bought the third of these I've bought THIS year, in 2017. I've been using these keyboards for several years, I've probably bought about 6 in total. Why am I such a sucker? Well, right out of the box, they are great wireless keyboards that are pleasant and efficient to type on, nice action with enough response to feel like you're typing but also quiet, full size keys, light up automatically when your hands approach the board, the little USB dongle (the "unifying receiver" -- not all Logitech devices have one, sadly) that simultaneously works with Logitech mice is a big plus for working wirelessly, or hooking up to a laptop. In fact, obviously I love this keyboard, I even wrote them a fan letter about it once.So why two stars? Because they are incredibly fragile.God forbid you ever laugh at a video while drinking your coffee. God forbid you ever have an ice cold drink that for a moment, allows a drop of condensation to drip over the keyboard. Greasy hands. An ill-directed sneeze. If you get sticky keys at all -- and you will -- do NOT for the love of all that is decent EVER attempt to lift a key to clean it. This thing is worse than the keyboards on most laptops. I guarantee you will break the key. It will come up oh-so-easily, just snap right out with almost no pressure at all -- and though it will seem that nothing is broken, you will never ever get that key back in. They are attached with a kind of plastic so flimsy and fragile it seems like they must be constructed from cobwebs -- and an engineering design that will force you to wonder, every time, what sophisticated system of robotics could have possibly put together this delicate jigsaw puzzle. Then the moment will pass, and you will realize that you are screwed again. They really should have a subscription service for these. And I would pay for it. If I could get an all-you-can-eat supply of these for a flat fee, it would be worth it, because currently, I haven't had one that has lasted longer than six months.I'm looking for alternatives, but meanwhile I just ordered another. I hope my last. At $60+ a pop, this is an addiction I can't afford.Logitech, if you are listening, this is a lousy business model. Please either make this sturdier, more resistant to everyday life, OR offer us discounted replacements. I've been a loyal user, but there's a time when you realize that it's time to take your broken heart and move on.

It's not durable
When I received it was perfect, the light sensor was awesome and everything but within 4 months 2 keys have poped out and now is useless. When I received it, it was awesome, the light sensor and the soft feeling...great. BUT within a couple of months a started feeling that the light started failing and little by little one key poped out, then another one. How is this possible for a keyboard of this price range?!

Stay Away: Inferior Product, Lousy Customer Support
I have used the Logitech K800 since I purchased my computer in 2013. I replaced the K800 in November 2017: the first one finally wore out from use - the backlight acted sporadically, a key here and there malfunctioned, etc. I figured I got a good four+ years use of it and figured everything eventually needs replacing. Because of my positive thoughts I replaced it with the same model in November 2017.March 2018 - the keyboard began inserting random letters/numbers/symbols when many of the keys were depressed. I contacted Logitech customer support. It took DAYS for a response, which was almost an automatic, canned reply, i.e. "...we're sorry...heavy load...try this...try that..." I followed their advice to no avail.Over the course of two weeks, we exchanged four emails. The non-response, no-caring attitude really bothered me. One day near the end of March, a replacement K800 arrived at my door - no explanation from Logitech. I was happy, but remained in the dark about who or why it was sent to me.First week of May 2018 - the replacement K800 began exhibiting the exact same behavior: random letters/numbers/symbols. Again, and begrudgingly, I contacted Logitech to let them know the mysterious replacement K800 had malfunctioned just like the other one from November. Five days later, I received a "canned" reply..."...we're sorry...experiencing heavy volume...etc" I thought, "Oh, no. Here we go again."No. I was not going to repeat the nightmare of less than six weeks earlier and demanded a refund. Four days after that correspondence, I received yet another "canned" response "suggesting" I try this, try that. No.I don't what happened to the production of the K800 from 2013 to 2017/18, but obviously there is something wrong. It served me well, but its replacement is just not worth the frustration. Good luck to anyone who contacts Logitech customer support. They are slow to reply, their replies are useless - the attitude is "we don't care."I cannot recommend the K800 anymore. Save yourself frustration and find an alternative.

The old K800 was better; this model has some poor design choices and some illumination problems.
[Update Feb 2021] Revising my rating to two stars. The keyboard still works but the illumination feature is now unusable due to the illumination cycling on off every few seconds, no matter the setting. It appears to be a faulty light sensor with no way to fix. I am now back to using my older (nearly a decade old) original K800. This is now a backup only. A truly disappointing purchase and unless Logitech have fixed the problems this is a hard KB to recommend.Pros* Four illumination levels, or illumination off.* Auto sensor that turns illumination off to save battery life, with multiple ways to set this via included software* Keystroke depression \ resistance is very nice (not soft or mushy)* RF Wireless (not bluetooth) with good range. Comes with small, unobtrusive wireless dongle* Does have configurable 'Logitech Options' software* Overall good build quality. Best of the wireless keyboards I've tried* Full size keyboard with right hand numpadCons* New K800's have batteries that are sealed in, unlike the old K800 where you could swap out batteries if wanted.* No ability to remap function keys onboard or with software.* I preferred the old Set Point software to the new 'Logitech Options' software* My keyboard doesn't always hold the settings I input into the Logitech Options software, requiring hard off \ on or reset.* I'd like a longer auto - on setting like 30 minutes.I have two Logitech K800 keyboards. I bought the first one in October of 2014, and the second one in December of 2018, both here on Amazon.ca. The first K800 I bought in 2014 is superior in every way.The biggest disappointment comparing the old and new K800:Opening the old K800’s battery cover revealed two regular AA batteries (Eneloop’s) that you could swap out if you wanted, instead of plugging the keyboard in to charge it. In that way it was 100% full-time wireless. Removing the battery cover on the new K8800 reveals that the battery is sealed inside and unremoveable.First problem with this is that any keyboard requiring you to plug it in, even if only for charging, ceases to be a 100% full time wireless device. There is no substitute for the convenience of being able to just swap in fresh batteries if you want and you’re good to go, always wireless. The new one must be plugged in to be charged – no battery swapping available.Second problem regarding the sealed battery compartment is that it reduces the lifespan of the keyboard. Even the best rechargeable’s have a lifetime recharge cycle. So now when the K800 reaches the end of the sealed batteries recharge life cycle the keyboard is a brick. My four year old K800 is 100% perfect, even though I’ve had to completely replace the AA Eneloops. There’s no way I’ll get 8 years out of the new K800 with no ability to replace the battery. This reminds me of the old ipod battery-gate. Is this planned obsolescence by Logitech? The old K800 had a smooth luxurious membrane type finish that felt very premium to the touch. The new K800 is kind of a hard plastic and doesn't feel as luxurious. This is relative …. I’m not saying it feels ‘cheap’, but definitely ‘cheaper than’ it’s more luxurious predecessor. It's still overall a very solid feeling premium keyboard.Another disappointment with the new K800 is the new Logitech Options software. I really liked the old Set Point software. It was effective. It worked, stayed out of the way in sys tray, but was also easily accessible there. The new Logitech Options software follows the trend of creating nicer looking, metro-ey type software the does look OK, but takes an extra step to get to, opens slower, and most frustrating … it doesn’t always hold the settings. Many times it doesn’t hold the illumination settings I input (setting: start illumination with typing & leave on for 10 minutes) and the illumination goes off when I remove my hands. Sometimes re-opening the software resets it, and sometimes it requires that I power off and back on the keyboard then reset the settings. It seems more temperamental and finicky. The keystroke depression hasn’t changed at all on the new K800. It's still great. These are not mechanical switches and I actually like that. To me this feels like just the perfect amount of key resistance and it’s quiet to type on. I’ve typed for hours on this and it doesn’t feel fatiguing. The keyboard has four illumination levels. I find either of the first two illumination levels are excellent, even for typing in a dark room. I also have poor eyesight and I find the illumination makes the keys easily visible. Level one or two illumination will also provide the greatest battery life. You set illumination to come on in one of two ways: either when you touch the keyboard (hand detection), or when you start typing. There is no setting for always on. After activating through hand detection or typing, you have choices to turn illumination off after 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds, or 1, 5 or 10 minutes. I set mine to come on when typing and stay on for the full 10 minutes. The battery life will of course depend on how much you use it and what illumination settings and level you choose, but expect anywhere from a week under very heavy use (a week of 14 - 16 hour days), to several weeks of battery life per charge.

Avoid this like the plague.
I was in need of a backlit keyboard for nighttime gaming. Nothing crazy like first person shooters or intensive keyboard commands. Mainly used for flight simulation. Since day one, the keyboard requires charging every couple of days regardless of the light setting. The software is an absolute joke, as is Logitech's useless website. I've wasted countless time searching their website for drivers and software for several owned Logitech and Saitek products. Now, today, conveniently less than a month after my product support runs out, my enter key breaks. No big deal, I think.. I'll just pop it back in place. Turns out that one of the .0000005mm thick pegs that connect the hinge mechanism snapped off. Who honestly expects a micron thick piece of cheap plastic to survive anything?I paid good money for this keyboard expecting a return on my investment of at least 3 years. This will be the last Logitech product that I ever purchase, and I strongly encourage anyone considering this keyboard to do their due diligence in reading reviews. There was a time not so long ago when Logitech was a great company with top notch quality control. It seems that in recent times, they have focused more on reducing costs and relying on their brand name to carry them through.Highly disappointed. :(

I've been robbed again....
Hmmm... open pacvkage...Keyboard is actually powered on....At least 12 keys sitting off to the side separated from keyboard...Repackage immediately... and add label and send back. This is what I get.... "Sorry, we are unable to create your replacement request."Where is my money...where is even a replacement...nothing.Another total ripoff product that I have to now fight for courtesy of crap service here.... too often this scenario these days... getting really tired of it...

Best logitech product I have ever used. And I buy a lot of things from them.
4 years ago my BF bought me this keyboard as a birthday present. I fell in love with it. He tried it he fell in love with it and bought one himself. My younger bro tried it and fell in love with it and bought one himself. People ask why I love it. I just say "If you are looking for a gamer keyboard look elsewhere. But for everything else. This is truly the best." I accidently broke the U key on my last one. And with the part I broke I cannot replace it unfortunately. It still works.... just the U key can't stay in place :c So when it came time to buy another keyboard I knew exactly what I wanted. This mo fo. Its simply the best Logitech product I have ever used from them.Pros:Battery life is awesome. Adjust the light settings it to how you like it. For me I only need to charge it once every 1-1.5 months with the light setting to half brightness. The lights turn off when not in use. And has a neat sensor inside it. So if you hover your hand over the keyboard. It automatically lights up without a single keystroke. The function keys are great if you take the time to set them up with the software logitech provides so you can bind the apps you use to each one.If you don't care about professional gaming but enjoy it. It is nice how you can listen to the music on the side without having to minimize your game to pause or skip tracks. Also it has volume control keys and a quick mute. Which are super handy if you get a phone call and need to quickly answer it without chaos of minimizing your stuff to get to the desktop just to mute it.Extension USB cable included. So if you sit very far away from say a TV. You can still easily charge it.Cons:Cleaning the keys is a huge pain in the ass and just isn't worth the hassle if you don't trust yourself As if you do not follow a good instruction video. You will ruin your keyboard. And even then its not guaranteed success as I have seen some sad stories of people ruining this keyboard just to clean it. You can replace keys no problem but if you break the "teeth" on the board itself that holds the keys in place. You are screwed like I was.Only white back light. No option for different colors :CCan't get you laid.Doesn't feed your fish. Can't drive you home if you are drunk. Not much else I can think of for cons.

Another nice product from Logitech with a couple of very minor opportunities to make it perfect
This is a very nice keyboard with a couple of minor opportunities that shouldn't stop you from buying. I am very glad I purchased. I recommend you download the configuration software so you can tweak the keyboard in ways that make it best for you.Pros:- Adjustable backlit keyboard (very nice)- Keyboard senses your hands over it and turns on backlighting (which saves energy)- Battery lasts a very long time- Comfortable hand position- Quiet keys- Flawless wireless with a small receiver you can leave plugged into laptop- Configuration software- Thin profile- Appearance- Feel- RechargeableCons:- Could use a padded palm rest like some of their other keyboards- The grippy feat used to prop up back of keyboard sometimes collapse to closed position when you move keyboard (not really that big of a deal..I like that they are grippy so keyboard does not move around too much)- CostI hope you find this review helpful in making a decision
