Fantastic dual-band antenna
I purchased this antenna based on a recommendation from a friend and the overwhelmingly positive reviews on eHam. I'm very glad that I did. While I haven't connected it to a standalone analyzer yet, my radio is reporting a 1:1 SWR across the 70cm band and the majority of the 2m band, with a maximum SWR of 1.5:1 at the top of 2 meters. No antenna is magical, and there are so many variables that influence range. That said, I'm operating indoors in an area full of interference (a Chicago apartment with no balcony—far from ideal), and able to work UHF simplex at 35W with folks 30-40 miles away. The antenna is mounted to a section of PVC pipe, slipped over the neck of an inexpensive tripod with the camera mount sawed off. The connection to my transceiver is made via 50' of LMR-400 to a Daiwa cavity switch, with another 7' of RG-213 running to the X50A. The antenna's mast mount features a very cool design that protects the coax interface from water ingress. If only I could stick the thing outdoors.

Works great! High performance!
The media could not be loaded. The antenna is actually shorter than expected. The size measured 5.6' is with the mast mount included. But works great.

Dual Band Antenna Works Well, Rugged!
I bought this antenna to replace one I got via trade and though it was broken internally. Turns out it was bad coax! This antenna works very well for all repeaters in my area. Easily gets me into all in a perhaps 45 Mile radius. I have it mounted on my roofline. Severe weather has caused no issues. I am very pleased. Performance is good, it seems very rugged, matches well for swr. Price is not cheap, but it is high quality in my opinion.

Picks up good
I’ve had this for a couple months now. I am receiving a repeater around 50 miles away. I’m hearing it good but they are not picking me up. I have it on the corner of my double wide. I think if I get it up higher, I’ll be able to transmit farther. as I have a 3 story building right by me.

Transmissions are clear and Receiving sounds great! you just cant go wrong with the X50.
This is simply just a great antenna. I'm new to Ham radio and this is the antenna I was told so much about. I use it with an affordable mobile radio and I sound great coming through the local repeater. when I tell people what antenna I use they always say "that's a good antenna" or "sounds great!". You cannot go wrong with the diamond X50!

Easy to Install and Very Portable if desired.
Very nice antenna. It is light weight and easy to install. I connected it to an existing TV antenna mast with a 5' pole which gave me a total height of 35' at the base. I use it with a Baofeng HP-82HP and a scanner. I am able to connect with 2 meter repeaters at quite a distance. I can hear police and state patrol units at over 50 miles away even though the antenna isn't tuned for those particular frequencies. This antenna could be used as a portable unit while camping or at events. I wouldn't recommend it to be permanently mounted on a vehicle because of the wind resistance.

Antenna not passing swr test
I was having issues with this antenna since the beginning, thought it was my equipment but finally got a vSWR and it tests horribly (almost a flat 16.523 on all frequencies). All my other antennas test just fine. Will need to send to Diamond for warranty.

Diamond's Highest Gain, Dual-Band Antenna Rated for 135-MPH Winds
This is the highest gain, dual band base antenna Diamond makes that withstands 135 mph winds. I'm less than three miles from the ocean on the Florida coast. My house has been visited by half a dozen hurricanes in the last few years. I need a reliable base antenna that wouldn't blow over and break when I needed it the most. Paired with the Kenwood TM-281A, I was able to stay on the air on backup power through Hurricane Irma. You're less alone in a boarded up house when you've got the hurricane net up and are still able to provide reports.
