Review: I just took my new Explorer+ to the bottom of Grand Canyon(and back). I was impressed with how quickly the unit captured 3D satellite tracking. It seemed like less than a minute although I didn’t time it. Garmin has done a good job with the User interface with a simple and intuitive control pad and function interface from the Home menu. Battery life was excellent and could have been even better with improved battery management practices. I especially liked the Quick Reply and Shared Tracking functions, allowing quick communications using standard pre-written texts and allowing my daughter to track me on her iPhone during my entire trek, something she enjoyed doing. I would highly recommend the Explorer+

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this unit have walkie talkie capability?**
A: No, but you can message someone with a similar unit

**Q: is there a rescue cost if you have to use the SOS button and rescue personell is dispatched? Thinking if kids push the button**
A: It depends on the area, some SAR’s charge a fee and I think they should. Many are comprised of volunteers who leave their place of employment and families to come help. It costs money to mount a rescue and get out the door.  It doesn’t cost less because it’s an “accidental trip” of your device.

**Q: Is this gps new？**
A: The product has been out a few years.

**Q: What does this come with, i.e., charger cord and plug, manual, etc.?**
A: If ordered from us it comes with the original manufacturer's packaging and everything normally included.

I replaced the Mini that I bought last year because it seemed to take a long time to connect to satellites and since I hunt by myself most of the time, I want to be able to send out an SOS if I need to immediately and not be second guessing if it has made contact with the satellites. I haven't used it yet but have it attached to my hunting vest, just waiting to go. Last year I used the month-by-month subscription package but this year I activated it for the whole year. It is about the same money when you figure in the yearly activation fee on the month-by-month package.
