I used it from my stairsteps to reach a very high ceiling fan string that broke off Review: Would like more gripping power for my task; otherwise an excellent tool - I use this reacher tool exclusively to pick apples from an absurdly large tree. The light weight and sturdy construction are great features. I don't have particularly great hand strength but I can hold the tool like a pistol and easily reach and grasp apples. The shaft is nice and rigid so it doesn't sag or bend. The rubber cups get a good grip on apples of all sizes. My only complaint is that the curved springy metal bands at the end provide all the gripping force, and they don't grip quite as hard as I need to pull a well-connected apple, so I have problems with the cups sliding off the apple when I pull. When this happens I have to twist the apple a turn or two to loosen it. I expect making the grip tighter would make it harder to pull the handle, but it would be a good tradeoff for me. It would not be fair to take off a whole star for this one issue I have that others don't care about, so I'm going with five stars. We have areas in yard fenced off due to an extremely active but lovable English bulldog, just a puppy at 8 months, only 60 pounds.
