A Lightning Fast, Yet Overly Safe Story of Love Overcoming Pain and Abuse...
As I wrote in an earlier review, when I first came across this series, I wasn't sure I would care for it. I don't normally go for the typical, sugary sweet romances, much preferring darker, edgier, more alpha driven fare. And to be honest, thus far I'm still not completely sure a whole series of plain ol' mountain men, no matter how gruff and grumbly, will be interesting enough to hold my attention. However, a few of my favorite paranormal and alpha, bad boy authors are penning installments for this series. And that coupled with the knowledge that each is steeped in angsty, more serious topics such as physical and/or emotional trauma, loss, etc.. I decided I had to give Thickwood a try. This particular book, "Taming the Mountain Man" by Mila Crawford & Aria Cole, is the third installment in the series. It is the story of Elliott, Thickwood, Colorado's reclusive sheriff. A man, who after a tumultuous childhood filled with loss, alcoholism, and abuse, vowed to stay alone forever, avoiding the pain he endured in his youth. And Reese, a vibrantly quirky elementary school teacher, new to town. A woman as colorful as she is kind. And also a woman about to take a certain grumpy sheriff down a path neither of them saw coming. What follows is a sweet, if not somewhat predictable story of insta-love. And while it is a heart warming story of kindred spirits coming together. Coupled with a mid-story twist that, unless you're completely dead inside, will have you rubbing your chest, and feeling pangs of both sorrow and happiness deep within in your soul. It jumps from first meeting to forever in such an abrubt and clunky manner, you'll pause and wonder if you missed a chapter or two.Additionally, while what the authors pen here is lovely and easy to read. It lacks the lush, emotional richness of the books before it. Nor does it contain the same searing chemistry between the male and female leads as the other installments. Overall, it is still a lovely story. It is a quick and easy read that is sure to satisfy hea lovers fully. However for me it lacked depth and emotional complexity. As well as only dipping near the underlying topic of abuse, giving only superficial attention to it. Something the other authors so far in this series have been far braver with and honestly attentive to.In the end, for me, despite its potential, this foray into Thickwood was less than memorable and overall just an okay read.

Off the charts cuteness!
Off the charts cuteness is to be had in the pages of Taming the Mountain Man! Reese came to Thickwood to be the new first grade teacher. Dressing like a kid helps her in her interactions at school and she is very committed to her job. Elliot is the town's grouchy sheriff and he has no need for other people. He wants nothing to do with the quirky schoolteacher, so he claims. That said he is awfully quick to offer her a cabin on his property to rent. Watching these two fall fast and hard was just the best! Before I knew it, it veered into heart melting territory and by the end I was teary. A beautiful steamy romance, it was sheer perfection!

A Must Read
Elliot meets Reese when he comes to the local diner and she's in his booth. He makes fun of her clothes which upset her because she dresses so she can get along with her students. Then to make up for putting his foot in his mouth Elliot offers to rent her a cabin his has. Sparks fly between them and soon they are sharing meals and rides back and forth into town. One day after school she refused to let a parent to a student home because they were driving drunk Elliot ended up arresting the parent and Reese took the boy home. Soon they were taking care of the boy together. Will they become a family together with the boy? Will Elliot claim them both as his own? This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is sizzling hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Elliott and Reese
Another entertaining story in this series by different authors. I love these two authors writing together. Elliott is the town sheriff and he is a grumpy man that lives in the middle of nowhere on the mountain. Reese is a first grade teacher that dresses really kooky it has a wonderful sunny personality. They shouldn’t work but they just do. Reese balances some of Elliott’s grumpiness. Once she enters Elliott’s life there is no going back. She changes it for the better but will two opposites work out?

A great read
Wow this one pulls at your heart strings for sure. Book 4 of Thickwood, Colorado series is amazing. A sunshine and rainbow teacher meets the town grumpy sheriff. From the start Elliott and Reese get off on the wrong foot. She she stole his booth at the diner. She also doesn't take any crap off him. Its a great read with lots of hot scenes and also a wonderful surprise for them both.

Insta-Love on Steriods
I enjoyed the story of Elliot and Reese. The storyline had it all, making you smile, laugh and sometimes cry, though they were mostly happy tears. Gruff, introverted Elliot found his forever in quirky, bubbly Reese. What I didn't like was the writing. Being written by two authors left this book disjointed. The flow was off and caused confusion, as if large chunks were missing.

Elliot Goes From The Dark To The Rainbow
Elliot is the sheriff of Thickwood and Reese is the substitute first grade teacher. He's from the dark side of the spectrum and she the light side. This is book three of this quick Insta attraction series. This is their story.
