That's a $10 purchase when bought separately. This was a good deal.I like the feel of the Surface Pen. It has a good weight. The computer and pen pair through Bluetooth. The pen requires one AAAA battery (included). The LED that blinks white when pairing the pen is supposed to turn red when the battery is low. I've only been using it for a few months. The original battery is still working.I'm using it on a Surface Pro 4 and it works well when the SP4 works. There seem to be some glitches with the SP4 and input. From time to time, input from the pen won't work and I have to touch with my finger. Sometimes touch doesn't work at all and only the keyboard or touch pad/mouse will work. These are issues with the Surface Pro 4 and not the fault of the pen.Sensitivity is adjustable.The top button will wake up Cortana if pressed and held. A single click opens OneNote and a double click with take a screen shot and paste it into OneNote. I've found more utility in OneNote since getting the pen. When the top button is rubbed on the screen, it acts as an eraser (and doesn't leave any rubber crumbs on the screen).I'm still trying to get the hang of the button on the side of the pen. It sometimes works as a right-click, but not always or I'm just not doing it right yet.The different tips are the most fun for drawing. The standard tip just draws an ordinary line, but the different tips are pressure sensitive and great for drawing. The little tip holder will grip and pull out the installed tip making it easy to exchange tips.The pen attaches to the side of the Surface Pro 4 using a fairly strong magnet. I wouldn't trust the magnet to hold it if carrying around the computer without a sleeve or case. Has eraser and a magnetic personality, too! *by R***S on Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2017* I lost my original Surface Pen when it detached from my Surface Pro 4 at airport security. We were flying home from a marketing meeting in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and a fellow staff member volunteered to carry that bag for me, as I was carrying my wife's bag. When he pulled the Surface Pro 4 out of the bag, the stylus detached and disappeared, which I didn't discover until later. I took the stylus from my Surface Studio office computer to replace it, and later ordered this one for my Surface Studio.I have used many pens or styli on various PCs and tablets over the years, and I rate this one better than most. Definitely one of the best implementations of a stylus I've had the pleasure of using. I have the iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil, and while the iPad Pro is a killer tablet, I don't particularly care for the Apple Pencil. The Pencil is a capable device, arguably more so than the Surface Pen, but I find it incredibly awkward to hold, as it's too thin, too long, and too slippery. In addition, I find the Pencil's tip glides too easily. It feels as though it could benefit from a tiny bit of resistance to make it feel more natural. But I digress.The Surface Pen has just the right amount of resistance, and it comes with several interchangeable tips, so you can customize the feel of the Pen on screen. The pen has enough weight that it feels good, without feeling too heavy. It is thick enough that I can hold it comfortably, and I appreciate that it's magnetized so it grabs the edge of the computer. There are 1024 levels of pressure, which I think should be more than adequate for most anyone, save the most demanding of artists. It has an eraser function with a click switch, which can be programmed to call up most any function or application you desire (I think it's programmed to start One Note by default, but you can change that easily in Settings), and it also has a side click switch, typically used for "right click" functions. Battery life is excellent, too.
