The main characters are both challenged to overcome their emotional short-comings when they are forced together after a shooting places one in the protection of the other. Kennedy is the ex-FBI profiler haunted by a past case and a killer stalking her sister who reluctantly takes on the task of profiling the shooter of a famous star's wife, Shawn. Due to the grisly nature of her job, she has put protection, expecially of her family, before her own needs. Shawn who abhors the limelight and only wants her actress wife Veronica to spend more time with her and the kids is shocked to discover how easily the obsessed shooter has invaded her privacy.Kennedy is charged with both protecting a recovering Shawn, while seeking clues to her attacker's identity. Meanwhile Veronica's ego sees no real danger and it is her reckless actions that send her wife reeling with one emtional betrayal after another. It is Kennedy's inherent desire to protect that slowly draws her to Shawn who is trying to understand why she ever married Veronica in the first place.Compounding the issue is the stalker who resumes threatening Kennedy's sister that forces Kennedy to bring her sister's family to the same protective location.
