The emergence of North Carolinian Randy Travis heralded a sea change in contemporary country. The true pioneer of the hugely popular new traditionalist movement, Travis helped reconnect the genre with its roots. His 1986 debut, Storms Of Life, delivered two #1 singles and became country's first-ever multiplatinum album. Getting back to basics never felt so good, and Travis remained countryb s dominant voice for years- "Forever And Ever, Amen," from '87's Always & Forever , launched a run of seven consecutive country chart-toppers. He hit #1 most recently in '03 with the award-winning "Three Wooden Crosses," and he remains indisputably, one of country's all-time superstars.

What's not to like about the great singer Randy Travis? This cd covers his best songs. I play it over and over while dealing with a difficult task. It motivates me to get moving. CD was carefully packed and delivered quickly.

Best of the "Best Of" albums out there
Having every album Randy ever produced, I can attest to the fact that owning "The Very Best Of Randy Travis" is a must have. His baritone voice is so easy on the ears and his "awe shucks" laid back attitude ring through in many of his songs. There are few in the Country genre that have a unique baritone voice such as his. The only one that comes close today may be Josh Turner. From "Diggin' Up Bones" to "It's Just A Matter Of Time", Randy shows his wide range. There are even a few religious songs on this album, something Randy began to do more and more near the end of his career. Do yourself a huge favor and make sure to buy this album. You won't be sorry..."I Told You So".

I am not really a CountryWestern fan, but I do have a few artists I love to listen to--Randy Travis is at the TOP of my list. This compilation album covers most all my personal favorites with the other 4 songs I like found on Greatest Hits 1 and Greatest Hits 2. I am not crazy about the cardboard slip covers as there was no inner sleeve to help protect the CD from scratches (old LPs had inner sleeves, but were not as easily scratched as CDs are today). I transferred it to a plastic CD case along with the liner notes and will copy the slip case to create a tray insert for the back of the case. The CD itself is absolutely wonderful (20 tracks, best single-disc compile in my opinion) --- I REALLY like Randy Travis a lot!!!
