Wow, a seasoning that packs a fantastic umami punch.
A chef friend recommended this product, and what can I say? I LOVE IT.Yondu helps round out any dish, and I mean ANY dish. Soups, stews, noodle dishes, bolognese—any dish at all is improved with Yondu; I have yet to find one that isn't. It is salty, as it has a soy sauce base, so I suggest any seasoning occurs after adding Yondu and tasting to avoid embarrassing over-salting incidents.Get a small bottle first to ensure you like it, but I recommend getting the big one if you do. It is cheaper ml for ml. I have also created a subscribe and save to reduce the price by another 10% as it is quite a pricey ingredient. It is well worth it, though; I used to just buy granulated MSG (which is way cheaper), but after blind tasting a dish both with Yondu and with MSG (I halved it and then added), the Yondu won out and by a massive margin (this was the case for my whole household).This is one of those times when going the expensive route is the right choice.That's the subjective opinion but what about the objective? Well, it's a quality product, organic, vegan, and best of all it's not horrendous for you.Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic savoury addition to any dish
This bouillon is amazing, it gives rice, stews and any kind of meat or fish a beautiful depth of flavour. Its is a bit pricey but a little goes a long way....no need for additional salt. Excellent product.

Softer more nuanced umami taste.
Yondu Vegetable Umami Essence combines fermented soy and vegetable stock. it adds a softer more nuanced umami taste than for instance an aged soy-sauce. Hence, is a versatile condiment that is useful in a range of dishes. It isn't cheap but is economical in use. At 15% sodium, I would like to see a reduced sodium option. Hence four stars

Expensive but amazing
Quite salty but not in an overpowering way. Much better than questionable MSG (is MSG safe or not? At least with this you know it's all natural) but very similar in taste, if a little more subtle.Enables some really quick and simple, healthy meals and comes with a great looking recipes booklet I will try. Ideal for vegetarians and vegans.

This chef recommends Yondu Vegetable Umami
As a chef and food writer I get to hear about lots of food products and that how I first heard about Yondu. At the time I was about to start teaching a new online Vegetarian cookery course , so I bought the 150ml bottle on Amazon to give it a try and was really pleased.I use it first in a live demonstration to make a vegan stir fry and was very please with the flavour of the Yondu and how the Umami seasoning enhanced the flavours of the ingredients. I also used it to intensify the flavour of a wild mushroom ragout I served with creamy polenta mash.Of course it is a big plus that Yondu is organic, plant based ( made from fermented vegetables which is good for gut health). I'm also happy Yondu is totally free from Genetically Modified ingredients, which seems to be in too many products these days! Made in South Korea and vegan friendly, I would highly recommend Yondu-Vegetable Umami.It has become very popular in America and is beginning to get better known in the UK. Not always available... I'm guessing because the producers are finding hard to keep up with demand. I wish it were a little cheaper, but there again it lasts a long time since you don't need to add much to enhance your dishes. If you open my fridge you will find some in the door.
