Review: VERY HAPPY WITH MY DECISION TO BUY THIS STAND!! - I did my research on buying a stand for at least 2 weeks before making a decision. And, I have to say, I'm VERY happy that I purchased the mStand Laptop Stand. This solid stand works perfectly with my 15" brand new MacBookPro. It holds it securely in place, is well-made, and I can even carry the stand AND the laptop around from floor to floor together (thanks to that hole in the back of the stand) depending on where I want to use both! (Naturally, you have to be careful but I've done this often with no problems). It also looks great with the lapbook as it matches and is just a sleek, modern design -- they go together well, like a hand in a glove! I will be using this for my business and for personal use. So far, I'm loving it and have no complaints. I considered the swivel stand, but being the klutz that I am, I feared I'd hit the swivel and knock over a cup of coffee or create some other disaster. Also, I read reviews regarding the swivel option and many said that it turns VERY easily. Again, for someone like me, that's not a risk I'm willing to take, although for some, less klutzy people and for those who do not work alone, as I do, it could work - for sharing what is on the screen. I like the fact that the stand is VERY sturdy. Your laptop will NOT slip off at all. Right now, I have this on my bed and I'm even typing directly onto my laptop. (the swivel would NOT be a good option for that at all). I do have a wireless keyboard and mouse for my work, but for occasionally typing right onto it, it's perfect! After scouring the internet and reading MANY reviews, I have to say I am VERY happy with my decision and would highly recommend it as a safe method of securely raising your laptop to a better height for viewing and working on, either professionally or personally. Although the height is not adjustable, you can always adjust your seat if it's not at a perfect height or put the stand on something solid, like a large thick book to give it an extra 1 to 2 inches, if needed. When it is sitting on a standard table or desk height, the height works fine for me and I'm 5'5" tall. (This is as opposed to if you're sitting on a bed --- which in this case, I put the stand on a very thick large hardback book). Review: Looks great, sturdy, perfect height, exactly what you want and expect - This is my second mStand by Rain Design. I previously owned a Macbook Pro (13"), then I purchased an iMac and sold my Macbook Pro and mStand along with it. However, I recently went back to a Macbook Pro (15") and had to purchase another mStand. It works perfect for all size Macbook Pros. The extra weight of the 15" does not cause any flexing in the mStand. It is pretty sturdy, however, if you are not using an external keyboard, you will notice some bouncing/shaking as you type. However, the purpose of this stand is to use it with an external keyboard most of the time. The cable management hole in the back will fit plenty of cables and connectors (including a standard DVI cable). There is a plastic ring inside the hole that acts as a grommet, so you do not have to worry about your cables resting against a sharp edge. The space under the laptop is enough for a keyboard (I keep an external Blu Ray drive under since my MBP doesn't have an internal drive). They advertise that the aluminum acts as a heat sink to keep your laptop cooler. I am not sure if this is true. There are rubber feet on the stand (as you can see in the picture) that prevents direct metal to metal contact. While the feet are not too high, I am not sure if that gap between laptop and stand is small enough to allow the stand to act as a heat sink or not. According to iStat, all of my temperatures remain under 30C during normal use. Even if I am watching a video and my dedicated graphics card kicks in, it stays around 37C. When I play a game, I have not had it go over 70C. So it operates within normal/safe temperature ranges. I had this laptop on a laptop cooling pad I had laying around before I ordered this stand, and the temperatures are about the same. The height is perfect. With the height of my desk and chair, it sets the top of the screen to my eye level, which is much more ergonomic than if the laptop was on the desk directly. It also puts it at about the height of my external monitor, so when I am using both monitors it is easier to look from one to the other. I am not sure what more I can say about this stand. It looks amazing, it serves its purpose. I think the best review I could give is the fact that I liked it enough that I bought it a second time when I went back to using a laptop exclusively. If you are using this for work and are constantly spinning your laptop around, then they do sell a swivel version. This one does not swivel well as there are rubber feet on the bottom of the stand between it and the desk, and you wouldn't want to destroy those by trying to swivel this model.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: So does the stand just rely on "balancing" the laptop?  That is what it looks like.  In other words, how sturdy is the laptop when it is in this stand**
A: It's quite sturdy and balanced. I have a 17" MacBook on it, and have never felt any concern about anything falling over. Occasionally I'll use the laptop's keyboard directly when it's on the stand, and it doesn't bounce or shake very much at all.

**Q: Does this stand sit high enough to be able to put wireless keyboard underneath and type on it?**
A: Definitely, there is about 3 inches of height clearance at the front of the stand and overhangs in front of the base of the stand by about 3 inches as well. If I slide my apple wireless keyboard under the stand until it touches the base about half the keyboard is covered by the overhanging stand. And there's room enough to type comfortably. I have the keyboard under the stand right now and I'm typing without hitting the laptop or stand.EDIT: Just in case I misunderstood your question, my answer above was assuming you meant could the keyboard sit in front of the base, but under the overhang. IF your question was could the keyboard actually sit ON the base of the stand and completely underneath the top of the stand then I would agree with answers below that say it's technically possible but the keyboard doesn't fit under there well, you won't be able to see the keyboard and your hands will hit against the top of the stand.

**Q: This product looks useful but I am looking for something that is foldable so I can carry it to school and coffee shops. Any suggestions?**

A: On your desk at home for your personal use? No swivel. On a flat table at school/work where you might have to show others your work? Swivel.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The difference it makes!

With virtual lectures, I was sitting at my desk (including study time) for about 15 hours a day with excruciating back pain, so I was browsing for stands that can angle my ipad up while I was taking notes on it, so I don't have to hunch over on my desk. However, with me having to lean on the actual ipad to write, I couldn't find a stand durable enough that can support that weight without bending the stand downward. Even desk elevation platforms still required me to lean over it facing down bc of their flat designs which also caused me to have upper back/ shoulder pain. I had the previous model of the mstand for my laptop for about 3 years now, and thought why not. The mstand I previously had was still just as sturdy as the day I first got it, so I knew I wouldn't have an issue with long-term durability. I know this company offers separate stands for ipads, but I decided to purchase another laptop mstand for my ipad because the angle of it was exactly what I wanted (plus, adjustable angles are only convenient if you're using your tablet only for viewing purposes imo). This item, being fixed at my preferred angle and being incredibly well made with sturdy metals, allows me to lean on my ipad all I want to jot down notes which saves my back like nothing else. Also, a plus is that it just looks and feels amazing. It's pretty much made out of the same metal and finish as my apple products, so it's heavy-duty and doesn't shift around at all. I was especially impressed because this new design fixed all the problems I had with my previous design. The previous design has a slightly more elevated angle, which might not be as comfortable for some people, but this new design is lowered just a tiny bit to put less pressure on the back of your elbows while typing. Also, with the previous design I was always annoyed because the sticky rubber pieces to prevent the metal-on-metal scratching of my laptop kept falling off. However, with this new design, they increased the size of the rubber and thinned it out so that it can't fall off at all. Overall the design just feels a lot more durable and sleek. I will definitely be recommending this to my colleagues!
