They do not deteriorate like the paper straws. Warning when you order. There are 2 types-one straight and one flexible. (The straight one might be a new style). I did not know the straight straws even existed until my erroneous order arrived and I opened the box. Due to a permanent stiff neck, I need to use a straw that is flexible!
