For ALL plastics and ceramics, go over it with the steel wool that I mentioned, rinse and dry, then prime with Rust-Oleum 2X Flat White. For light colored plastic I do 2 coats 20 minutes apart, for darker colored items 2 to 3 coats 20 minutes apart or as much as needed to cover the color completely. I've never needed more than three coats on anything. Then let it dry for an hour and apply the Rust-Oleum Chrome paint. Spray lightly! It's easy to want to go crazy with that paint but don't do it or you will wind up with drips! Be patient and give it a light coat every 20 minutes until you have the desired effect. I let my items cure for three or four days, and if it's an item that will be handled often I use a clear top coat. For wrought iron plan on at least three coats of the paint primer I mentioned above, then proceed as mentioned above, leaving it to dry 20 minutes between coats. However I do NOT recommend using steel wool on wrought iron as the fibers will catch on the surface. If you feel it needs some sanding use an ultra fine grade sandpaper.
