Review: Not better than Jbl Boombox 2, but WOW how good it is! - To summarize for who does not have time to dive in more - this is one of the best value per unit of round, full and bassy sound Bluetooth speakers you can buy today. Tribit Stormbox Blast: The good: Size and weight - The smallish size, very well built quality and simple but fun lights were the ones that got me at first sight. It is not too weighty either, just enough to feel it is serious but still pretty much mobile and not too heavy – this is from the position of a male, it can feel a bit heavy for some young ladies though. Price - This was bought on Black Friday with a very good discount, the total paid being £163, very good price, not only for what you get, very decent price full stop. Then it was the sound – wow! Let me try to say more. I love the sound which is: full, balanced, covering a wide spectrum basically hearing more sounds than the Boombox 2 for example and on top of this with again full, balanced bass and low bass. It is a complete sound joy with a very good amount of low bass too, the latter being what is actually missing from many other boomboxes on the market. Again the sound – I tested it at 80-100% volume, while the bass took a step back around 80% and the highs went up, there was no distortion at all. I tested it with insane bass boosted songs – the same, no distortion, very impressed. Very quick connectivity, powerful Bluetooth 5.3 signal – I could go wherever in the house still with a stable connection to the speaker. Very good battery life. Never got it to die even though I had listened a lot every day and charged here and then. The bad: The app does not seem to show the battery life correctly. Fully charged it would show 80%. This can be misleading and has made other users return the speaker as they thought the battery had issues. I personally think it is an App issue, not a battery issue of the speaker itself – as I said above, I’ve had no issues and not managed to get the battery to die anyway. The very bad: After a bit over 1 week the sound stopped being received by the speaker. For multiple times I have turned on and off, reset, repaired, fully charged the speaker – no fix. The same, uninstalled and reinstalled the app a few times too. I was just left with a good looking box, with no sound at all. I feel that I was unlucky because in no other reviews from the UK, Germany, US or India have a I seen anyone saying about this exact issue. I wanted to return and still wanted to buy the same one, but eventually saw the Jbl boombox 2 on a massive sale, so I went with that in the end. The below might be helpful for who also thinks of the Boombox 2 as more expensive alternative. Jbl Boombox 2 compared to Stormbox Blast: The bad: Size, weight and form factor – the Blast was way better in this regard. I feel the Boombox 2 is just 0.5 kg more on paper but way more when carrying it around the house. It is also just significantly bigger and it is easier to hit things when on the move. Price – I got this one on a big sale with £250. But this made it still £87 more expensive than the Tribit, that’s quite a bit I think, more than 50% more expensive. And that is the price on sale, not the extortionate price of the Jbl Boombox 3 now. Warranty – this is 12 months instead of 18 for the Blast The good: Sound – this is a bit tricky to speak about but let’s elaborate comparing it to the Blast. I will try to summarize in what my first impression was when listening to each of them: Stormbox Blast: “Wow, what a full bodied rich sound this has! This comes with plenty of low bass kicking in too, just what I needed!”. Boombok 2: “Wow, what full, round, crushing, floor-moving bass! But the mids and highs do not sound bad either, still pretty balanced for my taste indeed!” The very good: Here the Boombox 2 is better than the Blast, the real reason for which I will be stay happy with the Boombox and miss the Blast, but not cry over it: when listening to low volumes the Boombox still keeps the bass in linearly, to about the same quantity as at higher volumes. In most of the time I listen at 5-40%, so this is a game changer for me. The Blast was somewhat losing the bass under 20% and under 10% it was almost lacking. The Blast was having a best volume range to listen too as a result: 20-80%. The Boombox 2 does not have this issue. Plus – the final winning kick from the Boombox 2: because with one of the later updates you now have access to a simple but very effective equalizer, the Boombox 2 offers everything in terms of sound. When I felt that I wanted more bass when playing Jazz for example, that would work wonders. Or when some dance music already had too much bass that would crush the rest of the song and distract instead of improve the sound, I can lower the bass and make it just fine. The same for mids and highs of course, but the bass is usually the one that benefits the most in tweaking. Conclusion: If I had not had that issue, I would have been extremely happy with the Tribit Stormbox Blast and never wanted anything else. It still gets a 5 stars review as it is still so good. Now, after trying the Jbl Boombox 2, I can say that a bit more full and low bass plus the possibility of making it even heavier (thunderous room-shaking) or lighter when needed is what makes a difference, for me at least, and I will keep it.
Review: Excellent speaker - It's probably the best speaker at this price point. It has nice low base, mid base and mids, good vocals maybe a little bit recessed on the trebles but more than good enough. It has a ridiculously long battery! Lights you can turn off if you want to save battery I like keeping them on. It's a heavy speaker. It's straight to the means charging which slightly less convenient than USB charging, but at the same time when the batteries do die you can probably still use it. Bluetooth latency will be obvious like all these speakers. I've had the Soundcore Boom Plus and the Harmon kardon go play 3. At twice the price the HK is near Hi-Fi quality with excellent bass, clear mids however it does have seriously recessed trebles so you will need a third party equaliser to fix that which do exist for free. The soundcore Soundcore Boom Is an excellent speaker for its price but it's not quite at the Tribit level though very close. What I do like about the soundcore is it has slightly clearer vocals and strings than the Tribit, and weight wise it is much lighter and way more convenient to carry around.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be charged via usb?**
A: No, it comes with a figure 8 (C7) power lead. The USB port is for charging other devices.

**Q: Is it loud?**
A: Yes it goes a decent volume. Louder than the 4 speakers in my car and much more bass, I use it in there as a cheap upgrade, however I do use it in the house and in the garden. Only need it about half way up to a maximum 3/4s volume.

**Q: When will Firmware updates come to android? Had to use a friends i phone to do this. What changes have been made up until now?,**
A: Not sure on the question but from my Android phone I was able to get the latest firmware through the Tribit app installed without issues.

**Q: How do i play music on this when i dont have wifi available?**
A: This speaker is Bluetooth, not wifi. However there is a 3.5mm port to insert an aux cable into it for a wired connection.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent speaker

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Closest I've heard to studio monitors with true bass in a portable speaker
*by A***R on 31 August 2024*

I got this with 50 off for 150 and I have included the video with lights on but you can turn them off. Firstly I've only ever bought soundcore and i love my boost, motion boom and motion x600 (after EQ as they aren't best out of the box but still good). I actually bought the boom 2 plus and returned it after watching the Alan Ross review as he is good on YouTube and that speaker didn't do deep bass but this one does. This speaker does sound good out of the box with X bass on but I always go for speaker I can EQ and this has a 9 band EQ which is very effective. One thing I would say is I love deep bass but out of the box although it sounds weughted it doesn't sound very open. I have screenshot how I have EQ it after just 15 minutes which won't be my best but to me sound better overall for every genre already as the vocal came to life. This speaker is very heavy and fairly chunky but the build quality looks good and the battery life so ar has been outstanding ding for its performance. You can feel the vibration when it's o. The floor and its definitely hitting the 50hz range well enough to hear. Overall in short I was blown away by this speaker as someone who has done music production and produced music before, it's the closest thing I have heard in a portable speaker to studio monitors but with the sub frequencies coming in too where most portable speakers fail. Dont get me wrong it doesn't hit bass like the 200w sub in my car but more than I expected out of a unit this price and its very well balanced after you EQ it. I have not done the EQ for a balanced sound but an enjoyable one for my varied taste of music to add depth. The lights are programmed well to go with the music too which can be turned off in the app. When using the EQ in the app you have to swipe left to get the higher range bands in to adjust. If you aren't bothered about it being as portable as other speakers, this s**is all over the rest of the speakers I have. If you want one which is portable, cheap and still really good, go for the motion boom or even the boost if you want really portable. If you want full out sound regardless of the light show which is a bonus, this is the best speaker on here for under 450 quid I'd say. The only thing which I've h3ard can compete is the JBL boombox 3 but I've never liked the JBL sound signature. 11/10 once I finalise the EQ
