Review: Thrilled I finally found my perfect Nakiri knife and not spending a bundle - I am an avid EDC knife guy and that somehow also made me very keen on getting real good knife sets for the home. I have high end steak knifes as well as well-known German full tang knife sets in one home and another modern Japanese full tang knives in my 2nd home. When I am in the kitchen prepping, my go to knife has always been the Nakiri. My wife prefers the short Chef knife. I shopped around and wanted to replace an older Nakiri knife with something that looks stunning and has better ergonomics. The Damascus pattern is pretty and the knife is super sharp out of the box. It is a full tang knife which is a must for serious knife use for longevity and strength. The knife is balanced well. I really admire the G10 handle with the fancy rivet and butt decor. The knife just looks nice and I fell confident everytime using it. The scalloped grooves is a nice touch. I originally wanted a 6 inch knife and ready to pay hundreds more but this 7 inch blade just feels right. The overall weight is not heavy at all but at the same time, the weight does help in cutting down onto the board and giving you less exertion of force required. This Shan Zu is a durable and beautiful cutting tool. Lots of special touches makes it stand out. The heel is safe from cutting accidentally and the bolster offers superior grip. Always hand wash and immediately dry off to keep the knife stay pristine. Recommended!

I have a few higher-quality knives, including Wusthof and some Japanese-made VG10 knives. I wanted to try a more budget-friendly knife with good steel to see what the real difference was. This knife was sharper out of the box than any knife I've bought. It could shave hair very easily. Of course the initial edge is only one factor--we'll see how the the retention is, and whether it rusts or otherwise fails--but that first impression matters, and it was good. The knife is heavy for its size, but not overly so. The handle is comfortable and meets the tang perfectly, so the quality control seems good. Overall it feels well made. If it really is AUS10 and real damaacus, I believe it'll perform very well. I only received this knife today, so I may need to update this review as time goes on. Initial impression is that it's a good knife for a good price.
