And is it waterproof when dry?** A: It isn't waterproof and, in fact, will soften if left in water. This can be a good thing if you have clay that's dried out before you've used it as you can leave it in a container of water (overnight) and it will become workable again. Also, you can mix some clay with water until creamy to give you 'slip' which is a kind of glue for joining two pieces of clay together (but not dried clay pieces, I imagine). Finished sculptures can be waterproofed to some degree with varnishes - I'm not an expert on these.
