Brilliant little tool kit
Brilliant little tool kit, made putting silicone in my new ensuite shower a doddle. Two tips, put some masking tape on the shower tray/bath and some on the wall tiles (leaving a gap for the silicone obviously!) and use plenty of silicone, it's cheap enough and much easier to wipe the excess off the tool than it is to add more.Second tip, it'll look great, like a real pro has done it, you'll be amazed and dead chuffed with your work, then you'll notice a very small (minute) flaw and you'll think I'll just go over it again to get it perfect....well don't, you'll ruin it!Seriously, this tool is a godsend, makes a fiddly job very very easy.

Good finish, once you get it wrong a couple times!! .... here are some tips.
If you've never used something like this before, don't expect to get the hang of it first attempt. You may notice that there are no right angles to these. The reason is clear towards the back of this video:Search youtube for "fugen star"some lessons learnt from my experience today.1) Don't be surprised i you make a mess on your first attempt. Use the sharp corner tool to scrape off and remove the bead and start again. Use the first attempt as a learning experience.2) The curved edge on the thin piece is NOT meant for shaping a long bead of silicone. If you try it (like i did) the excess will overflow off the tool and make a mess. Use this curved edge to smooth the silicone on grout lines when you've finished.3) The tool needs to held at a FIXangle so that both edges are flush with the wall / bath (see video). Keep the angle consistent to get a consistent finish!4) The sharp edge faces the direction of travel. I tried the angled surface forward , but this didn't work.5) Better to apply too much than too little in your bead. If your bead is too thin, the silicone will be too shallow and the tool may not reach the bead to shape it.6) Wipe off excess OFTEN. Depending on how thick a bead you put on, excess may gather on the tool very quickly. In my case, i used the 8mm and had to wipe off the excess every 6 inches or so. You don't have to finish in one sweep! As long as you maintain the same angle for the tool, you can pick up where you left off without changing the profile of the finished bead.7) Corners are a pain ... have an idea how you will approach them before you start. then when you do, go slow!

Good selection and probably more useful where more precise application ...
Edges frayed and ended up using my fingers. Good selection and probably more useful where more precise application is necessary.

Must have mastic tool.
I have attempted sealing bathes, showers and sinks etc in the past as part of diy projects all with questionable results. Having seen a video online of a tradesman using one of these tools I decided I needed to get one. Other reviews have said that using for the first time is not like the video and some practice is required, however I found I got a good result at the first attempt at sealing a new sink basin. A 100% improvement on my usual effort.Deciding which edge to use is left up to the user with no advice available but I just offer several edges up to the job and picked one that looked like it would leave a reasonable amount of sealant and hey jobs a good' un.

Brilliant, more than worth the money!
I strongly recommend this tool to anyone who is working with silicone sealant.I have never used silicone sealant in my life before, but I decided to replace the messy, old sealant around the kitchen sink, so I bought them just in case they helped me.Did they help me? They were brilliant!! I don't think I could do this without them. I did such a neat job that my husband was rather impressed, although I told him it was all thanks to the tools and not thanks to my finesse (!). I could not have done such a decent job without these tools. In fact I know I'd have made a right mess without this tool, because I tried initially for the sake of it, and I failed miserably. They were also extremely easy to clean. All I had to do was to wipe it with a piece of paper towel before it dried.I also used some of these tools to clean up the over-flow around the edge as well, which they did extremely effectively.I really recommend them to anyone contemplating using silicone sealants. Even a first timer like me managed to do a neat job with them.

If you want straight edges...
Watched a video on YouTube recommending some more expensive versions of these, however, these work a treat, and once you get the hang of them, they apply silicone, caulk, etc, very easily and with a perfect finish. I would highly recommend a test setup first or an inconspicuous area, to get the hang of the ways they can be used.

Finally silicone tools that work!
I'm a Pro tool user ! This item arrived fast and well packaged!Really impressed with these I've tried other branded and generic versions of these tools and I'm happiest with these. They pick up material really well leaving a nice smooth even finish even on textured surfaces - this for me sets them above the others. Being slightly soft they do wear a little quicker but the performance is excellent and at this price cheap enough to replace as a consumable item after 8-10 jobs.I'll be ordering more for sure.
