The items need to be FREE FROM GREASE which will stop the product working on the rust. After degreasing wire brush to REMOVE SURFACE RUST then leave submerged in the diluted solution overnight. More time may be required for heavily rusted areas. If the items are not washed after treatment they will dry with a grey film. This product removes rust effectively but is not meant to protect from future rusting - so painting or a film of oil will be needed. Because it is diluted for use a bottle goes a long way. Review: Excellent product. - I find that this works really well. Brilliant for cleaning up old tools etc.You can even re use it several times before it becomes ineffective.
