It’s a great product for giving your little hermit crab children a way to walk without obstacles.Functionality:If this was left in the crabitat then I would say there are no issues with safety. If this is being used outside of its cage then you need to make sure that you stay right next to your crab as they can easily climb off the edge and run. My only suggestion would be to make the surface of the wheel have a little bit more traction as it is a little difficult for my little crabs to get moving. Noise level:If you weren’t watching the wheel you wouldn’t know it was moving at all. The only noise you may hear is the tapping of the crabs claws as it walks.Ease of assembly:Very easy to assemble. The only assembly required is placing the wheel on the base and then securing it with a nut.

The media could not be loaded. Took a min but our purple pincher uses this thing constantly. All day, all night. Sometimes keeps me awake - it’s always on it making noise. I thought it was stuck at one point, took it off and it went right back on. Also seemed annoyed I took it off. It’s like a carnival ride and it just walks and spins on it CONSTANTLY! Even if it flips, still won’t get off unless to eat, salt soak or drink, or molt. Best addition to the crabitat. But there no instructions so it took a min to figure out the assembly. Instructions would be nice. Also going to add the bottle cap to cover the metal part with aquarium glue like another reviewer mentioned but need to get the glue.

There is nothing wrong with this product. My hermits just don’t use it so I took it out last week.

My hermit crabs LOVE this wheel! I have medium sized hermit crabs that are slighly on the larger size. I ordered the "large" size of this wheel and it fits them perfectly! They like to hang outside of it, on top of it, underneath it, etc. My only concern with this product is the use of a stainless steel bearing. Stainless steel is usually coated in chromium, which can be toxic to hermit crabs if traces of it come off onto their exoskeleton.Originally, I wasn't super concerned about this because the bearing is on the bottom of the wheel(where they won't be climbing on), and is also nowhere near water, which means the chances of the chromium dissolving off of it is low. However, my hermit crab decided that her new sleeping place is right underneath the wheel, directly under that steel bearing. To err on the side of caution, I decided to glue a clean plastic bottle cap on top of the steel bearing using aquarium based silicone which is safe for hermit crabs. Now the bearing isn't able to touch them, and they can still use the wheel like they used to.Overall, my hermit crabs still love and use this wheel a lot. However, if you are someone who is concerned about keeping up with your crab's health, I would suggest researching the impacts of stainless steel in their environment and come to your own conclusions.

The media could not be loaded. Was kinda skeptical that the crabs would even use it. Was wrong! They love the wheel and would be on it for hours! Keeps them moving! Size was just perfect, and does not make any noise at all when they are using it.
