They do nothing to help headaches or protect your eyes. I have been a migraine sufferer for most of my adult life. I gave up on medications, because I hate the side effects and they never offered any noticeable pain relief anyway. After much research, I decided to give eyeglass light therapy a try. I purchased these SomniLight red migraine glasses and also the SomniLight rose migraine glasses SomniLight FL-41 Light Sensitivity Glasses.Often, I’ll wake up early in the morning with a full blown migraine. If I wear these red glasses for 20-30. minutes, it will subside into a mild headache. Without the glasses, a morning migraine will leave me incapable of just about anything for many hours, but with them, I’m able to function almost immediately. Even though the pain generally subsides before I even walk out the door, I continue wearing them during my drive to work. The morning sunlight flashing through the windshield used to intensify my headaches. The red glasses are dark enough that the almost strobe light effect of the sun is eliminated. These glasses are really too dark to read with so once I get to my desk, I switch to the FL-41 (rose lenses) glasses and then I can work all day on my computer screen without issue. I love the rose lenses so much that I continue to wear them on the computer even when there is no sign of a headache. Eye strain is reduced and they just feel good.I know not all migraines are the same, so light therapy may not work for everyone. Since insurance only pays for 4 pills of my Rx med a month, I'm trying to find alternative relief methods. I wore these at work shortly after a bad headache started hoping to prevent it from turning into a full blown migraine, and I'm mostly pleased. When they're on, I feel almost total relief within a few minutes. The one downside is I can't stand looking at the computer monitor with these on. They're just too dark and I strain to focus (which could exacerbate the issue).
