It is made of polyethylene for resistance to corrosion and to deterioration from sunlight, is molded in one piece to resist leakage, and has 1/4"-20 female threads. It is a standby just in case I ever need one in the future. The original one I put on is on its third year no problems.. Review: Quick Fix for Internal Leaking Toilet tank, for large commode tanks only - My old commode needed repair. The existing tank ball was rather small. When the ball lifted the shut-off lever, the lever often did not close completely, perhaps due to corrosion. I would have to take the lid off the commode tank and lift the lever to get the water to stop its internal leak and wasting of water. So I decided to buy this 6 inch diameter ball, which cured the problem. The existing tank ball was only about 4 inches in diameter. The 6 inch ball has much more buoyancy power & lifts the shut-off arm with more force. So now my commode no longer has the internal leak. The water shuts off all the way. Note that this 6 inch ball will probably not fit inside a modern toilet commode water tank (too big). But I have an old model commode with a bigger tank, & this 6 inch ball does fit, just barely. I wish someone made a 5 1/2 inch diameter ball. They do sell a square/ rectangular solid shaped ball which would probably fit and give extra buoyancy power also. I'm not sure which was worse. those darn cows or the Horses trying to kick it. needless to say the rope idea really saved us from having to purchase more parts.
