## Description

ACCEL's improved copper core spark plugs have a conventional ground electrode which is designed to unshroud the center electrode which helps the spark for a better ignition. This allows the flame to expand more rapidly in the chamber which helps in producing more horsepower and reduces misfire. Improves throttle response, fuel economy and less fouling. Purified alumina insulator prevents arcing. Machine rolled threads protect heads. Shorty configuration is 3/16 inch to 3/8 inch shorter depending on the application to gain critical air gap space between the spark plug boot and the exhaust manifold or header tube. This helps eliminate burning the spark plug boot or dimpling the header tube. The shorter spark plug length also can make it easier to install and remove the spark plugs in certain applications where there is not a lot of room to fit a socket or move a wrench around.

I do not typically write reviews bit this time I had too. I have a 96 Ford Bronco with a heavily modified 351W that has Edelbrock cylinder heads among numerous other modifications. Edelbrock recommended using a 14mm x 3/4" reach Champion spark plug so that is what I used when I installed the cylinder heads. After going through two sets of Champion spark plugs in less than 5,000 miles due to idle issues I thought I needed to find an alternative. I settled on these Accel plugs and I am extremely happy. The Champion spark plugs claimed to be a short plug but my spark plug wire boot barely cleared the headers. These Accel plugs are about 1/4" to 5/16" shorter which made instillation MUCH easier; plus the spark plug wire boot is now clear of the headers. Moreover, my Bronco's idle is smooth as glass and I gained a ton of low end torque. I am not talking about a little, I am talking about a 10-20% gain. While I am very happy with the Accel plugs, I know no plug by itself can make the difference I am feeling; so I have to believe the Champion spark plugs Edelbrock recommended were not firing off the cylinders properly. I believe the Champion plug was way too cold of a plug and the spark was unable to completely ignite the cylinder off at low rpm before the timing advance kicked in. That or Champion plugs do not work in heavily modified engines. (For other shade tree mechanics yes I did checked my timing as well as the spark plug gap on all plugs and all were set correctly) I know the Accel plugs are more expensive, but from what I have experienced first hand they are absolutely worth the money!!!
