Effective cooling fan - but not the quietest
The oscillating fan works well, scanning slowly from left to right and then a bit faster from right to left. This regular movement is almost completely silent on my model. Oscillation mode can be switched on or off.The fan itself tends to be a bit noisy. On the low setting, I get a reading of c. 40dB using a sound meter in close proximity to the fan, and c. 30dB when sitting 9 feet (2.7m) away from the fan. I can sleep with it switched on, but the white noise produced by the fan is noticeably greater than that produced by my air purifier's fan - which is almost whisper-quiet at its lowest setting. This Bionaire BT19 fan can be remotely controlled, which is a very useful feature. Using the buttons either on the tower unit OR on the remote control, the fan can be switched on and off, the fan speed can be set (3 speeds), the timer can be set (1, 2, 4, or 8 hours), the oscillation mode can be switched on or off, and you can operate the Sleep and Breeze modes. Note, however, that using sleep and breeze modes will not reduce the basic noise level.LED lights on the tower control panel light up to indicate which functions are in use; but they are not bright LED lights and they shouldn't cause any problems with sleep. At the moment, my fan is positioned near a wall about 9 feet (2.7m) away from where I'm seated. At that distance, it produces a pleasant and effective cooling breeze. The ability to operate all the functions with the remote control is a great asset - and would be especially useful for someone who is disabled, infirm or elderly.

Decent all round quality if you can get it for the right price!
Design - Mostly plastic, but generally soft touch in a silver and black finish. Base seems a little bit flimsy, but it does a fine job of holding the tower in place once mounted correctly.Performance - 3 fan speed levels, rotating or stationary modes, 1, 2, 4 and 8 hour timers, and "natural breeze" and "sleep" mode options. The fan is generally quiet when on the lowest setting, and even quieter on night mode (but still provides ample performance). I found after a few days there was some very minor creaking when in oscillating mode, but this was resolved by reseating the fan on the base. Natural breeze seems too erratic for me. One second it's basically off, then the next a very loud change and a sudden gust of wind. I tend not to use this mode and leave it on standard for during the day. It provides a good breeze on all three speed settings though and is not by any means distracting.Price - I paid £42 for this fan, and for the price and features it's definitely worth it, but I wouldn't advise paying much more. I have seen it go as high as £100 and it's really not worth that sort of money. If you can pick it up for under £50 (or your equivalent currency) I'd say it's worth it if you need a decent, powerful and reasonably priced fan with a good amount of features.Remote also doesn't come with AAA batteries.

Excellent quiet fan and good value
Excellent fan. Ordered it as was in top ten of fans as recommended by a newspaper. Criteria was quiet when running so could be used st night in bedroom and able to cool medium sized room comfortably. Most of the other ones on the list were much more expensive. Delighted with this fan. Quiet. Cools air very quickly. Used during temperatures in high 20s and it worked well. Remote control really good feature and I like that there is a slot on the fan to keep it on when not using it.

Quiet and Cool like an Aircon!
We had a few fans and cooling products at home but they were always loud.I've experienced the Bionaire Oscillating Tower Fan in my office at work and knew it was perfect for use at home. I purchased two tower fans for the bedrooms and they were brilliant to use, especially because you can set the time and use the remote control to switch on/off or change the timer function while lying in bed. My husband who was annoyed with the noisy fans thought they were rather quiet and they really made the rooms cool; felt almost like an air conditioner. Because of the slim design, they do not take up much space and are easy to store. These were one of my best buys

Good for smaller rooms and quiet enough to not keep you awake all night
Build quality is acceptable if a little plastic looking but as expected. Works well in a small room but would struggle in anything large and it isn't all that loud during function. Does't take up much space and can be easily stored in the winter months when not in use. There are plenty of similar products to compare this to and at cheaper prices, but I bought this based primarily on the reviews. It does the job but I am sure there are probably cheaper alternatives out there that can do the same. This was an ok purchase that I wouldn't say was bad but not amazing either.

Great Value Fan
This is the best value fan out there. I've bought this four times, all the first 3 are still working, with two of them over 5 years old. Used daily, very effective, all speed settings give noticeable increase in effectiveness, ours is about 2 metres from our bed and still feel the breeze even on the lowest setting. Not too loud, no squeaks as mentioned by others, one did squeak but easy adjustment of the base fixed it. Overall great fan, and as stated ours have lasted years and the latest replacement was for a more expensive fan that has failed after only 3 years use.
