Review: What exactly is this? Something unique... - Mine came perfect as far as the fit and finish, the bit and bottom of the handle lined up perfectly, the whole head was straight from bit edge to spike tip, it came as sharp as it can get and the paracord wrap ( gag ) was tightly wrapped. I heartily dislike cord wrapped grips on anything so that had to go even before I used it properly, put two strips of sponge like foam along the front and back of the handle then put a double wrap of racquet grip wrap over it, now it feels great and still pulls out of the sheath easily enough. This is a sort of oddity, it is a full tang tactical tomahawk but it doesn't have a tactical tomahawks head geometry ( kershaw siege, crkt kangee etc ), which are more like very thick knife blades than axes. This has a head geometry much closer to a woodworking or throwing tomahawks head ( cold steel spike hawk, condor pipe hawk etc). which is more wedge shaped with a wider edge angle and it's also more head heavy than tactical hawks, closer to the balance of a traditional hawk. Whether that's good or bad is up to you. Personally I was pleasantly surprised by this, in both what it was and how it performs. I own several traditional tomahawks and tactical tomahawks and this kind of bridges the difference between them. I also like that this has a straight handle, a big advantage over any hawk that has a curve in the handle ( which work great for the axe part but are always awkward when using the spike). It's overall balance and feel are very good ( one of those "tools" that you always want to fiddle and play with) and it's power and performance on wood is excellent. This is a good example of a schrade product: Are there better out there? Yes, without a doubt. Are there better out there for $30? No, without a doubt. That aside is this worth the money? Absolutely, it's amazing you can get this at this price. Money aside how does this stack up to the competition? It doesn't, but it does come close, close enough that if this is all you can get you have nothing to worry about, if I could get only one sub $50 tactical hawk it would be this because ( through use and experience) I trust schrades stainless steels. Schrade is the best at these budget stainless steels and this is another example of that. One final note, I used a file to sharpen the spike a little more and it wasn't easy, the steel is fairly hard, more difficult than cold steels 1055 and condors 1060 to do file work on. I would put it somewhere in the area of 1075/1080 high carbon steel when it comes to how it performs in edge retention and ease/difficulty in sharpening, at least that's what it seems like to me and I own over three dozen knives, axes, tomahawks, spears, swords and machetes made of various carbon and stainless steels by several different makers.
Review: Sharp, Light and Resilient - I have now used this on 2 separate hiking / camping trips to cut logs / brushwood for a fire. The axe is sharp, resilient and light. My only niggle is with the way the paracord handle was wrapped when I got it - it came off after a vigorous chopping session. After I rewrapped it differently to the stock configuration (I wrapped it tighter and only covered the part of the handle between the 2 holes rather than the whole shaft, and it has stayed in tact since then, despite some abuse.)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what do you think would be your most efficient chopping tomahawk when it comes to chopping down trees?**
A: This hawk works very well for chopping

**Q: Is this product American made, or an import?**
A: Its imported , 3,cr 13 mov China steel and manufactured in China but for the price and quality of what your getting you can't argue...

**Q: is this, as good, better,or worse than the scaxe3?**
A: I like the design of this weapon, but the Scaxe4 was not sharp enough to cut Jello. You could literally run the cutting edge across the back of your hand for an hour and only get a tired arm and a blister from the friction. After I sharpened it correctly, and threw it at my wooden target, it seems to be fairly well balanced.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ looks awesome, & full tang
*by J***P on November 16, 2014*

Not a bushcraft tomahawk...but still capable of work...instead of 7-8 strokes to chop a small tree down with a heavy bushcraft tomahawk, this one is will chop it down in 14-16.....a little extra work......but it's much lighter to pack.....which I'd rather pack light...the plus is that it's light, durable, doubles as self defense, looks awesome, & full tang....I was happy.
