When I was looking for this type of timer, I did not find a store that stocked it. This was a staple for as long as I can remember and was usually the only ones offered. Now there is all these electronic ones that you have to press a lot of buttons just to get it to function - and I am guessing needs battery changes. For that, I could use my phone. This is just a timer, and it does what it is supposed to do perfectly and effortlessly. I did try to check for accuracy, and I'd say it was very close - if not spot on. This may sound silly, but you do have to follow the instructions :-) - if you want to set it for anything less than 55 minutes. You have to do it a certain way, according to the instructions. The alarm is not too loud - which is good - but definitely loud enough to use while cooking. And it is brief, but long enough to get your attention - also good.
