It is an absolutely beautiful game on Windows 11. I had trouble getting it to work, but I finally downloaded what I thought was a shady looking app that everybody said worked, and that did work. For some reason the challenge mode will not launch and you will get a crash error. There's supposed to be fixes for this but I tried all of them that I could find and I did not find one yet that works. The thing I love about this game is going in and editing the units. If it wasn't for that I would have grown tired of it a long time ago. Awesome game! I got this back when it came out some long ago ago** A: As far as I can tell it will not run on WIn 10 as MS seems to have removed the secdrv service entirely from the OS as opposed to just disabling it. After a search to see if EA had provided an patches to resolve this I have come to the conclusion that there is no fix at this time. In order to play C&C Generals and or Generals : Zero Hour it looks like you will have to either create a dual boot machine so you can boot into Win 7 (or earlier version of the OS) or create a virtual machine running WIn 7 or earlier. I have a virtual machine running and will be installing C&C on that. Let me know if this helps. By the way I use a free version of VMWare Workstation called VMWare Player - if you can find it, it works quite well and runs on Win 10. I have never used MS version of virtual machines so can't speak to it, but I think it is also freely available from MS. Let me know if this helps. **Q: Can I still play the mods that are out there?** A: My brother's tried to get me into using mods, but for fear of corrupting my computer or the software I've avoided it, so unfortunately I'm not sure. However, my brother plays C & C with mods, so I suspect so. **Q: I found this set used on amazon and my question is will the codes for the games still work?** A: The code will still allow installation of the game. It doesn't matter if the code has been used before for your own installation. The issue will arise if you try to play multiplayer with anyone using the same code - it won't let you. Installation on Windows 10 is a bit tricky, I use the options.ini files created using the directions in this post and everything works well for me. The only one that I enjoyed better was Close Combat: Battle of the Bulge. Command and Conquer Generals (and Zero Hour) is a challenging, yet entertaining, game that teaches you all about timing, resource management, and strategy. I loved this game. The only problem I had with it was that the AI tended to cheat a lot at the highest difficulty level.
