Q: Why does this have a chocking hazard warning/ The amazon page says "This toy is a small ball. Not for children under 3 yrs."

This doesn't have a ball. Just a plain measuring cup!

Q: Are the markings nist-traceable?

I would think not. You would need to contact the manufacturer for details. This is a measuring cup for household cooking use, not a precision instrument. I used to work with NIST traceable standards in electronic test equipment so I'm familiar with what you are seeking.

Q: If I heat this cup in the oven, will it crack? We want to try our hand at sugar work and all directions say to heat a measuring cup first

This is what Pyrex says of their glass measuring cup: "You can even heat up ingredients right in the measuring cup, cutting down on cleanup time."

Q: Are the red markings lead and cadmium free? i’ve heard it switched from lead to cadmium which is even more dangerous.
