Reliable and Versatile Voltage Converter
The media could not be loaded. The Yinleader 500W voltage transformer has been a solid addition to my setup. I use it to safely power 220V appliances from a 110V outlet and vice versa. The step up/down function works flawlessly, and the unit handles consistent power without overheating. It’s clearly built with quality in mind, and the compact design makes it easy to store or carry when needed. The US power cord is a nice bonus, and the build feels sturdy enough for long-term use. I tested it with several electronics, including kitchen and audio equipment, and everything ran smoothly. A reliable choice if you need to convert voltage for international devices or travel.

Autotransformer that can produce split phase from 240V L1-L2 isolated input
This is an awesome autotransformer that can produce 120/240V split phase from an isolated 240V input.Just set the switch to 220 and use the transformer’s center tap as the load neutral, which can be bonded to ground potential. You will need to determine which output socket prong is connected to the center tap. On my unit it was the ‘hot’ side of the 120V outlet, so that’s my neutral. It could have been either side.I’m not using that outlet as a 120V outlet in this application, just connecting that one lead as the neutral in my output and having L1-L2 connected to the input of this unit and connected to the 240V load in parallel because I’m drawing enough current with this load to pop the (5A?) input breaker on this unit if I use the 240V universal outlet for that instead of paralleling on the input. My application is to use a $135 12VDC to 240VAC Inverter as a generator input to a hybrid solar battery system I had installed for my house. In this system any imbalance on the split phase (current on the neutral) is two or three amps so this unit can handle that. With that inverter we can use either our Prius Prime or our Rav4 Prime to provide backup power in an extended grid outage. The Prius especially is a nice backup generator because the engine is so quiet and efficient, and only turns on for about one minute out of 15, using the traction battery in between. Also if we started the outage with a full battery the engine doesn’t turn on at all for the first 8 hours. My unit arrived with a loose central mounting bolt and the transformer was flopping around in the case, so I opened it up and tightened the bolt. Minus one star. While I had the case open I verified that the wiring connections matched schematically what I expected. This setup has worked well in several hours of testing. I bought the lowest rated transformer because I want to minimize the size, weight and losses in the transformer, so that means I need to be careful about balancing any 120V loads between the two phases. If you want to have flexibility in your 120V loads, get the transformer that is rated for the highest 120V load you want to support.

Safety hazard - immediate sparks and smoke
I plugged this in to the wall socket and it immediately sparked and started smoking, it also electrocuted me. I immediately unplugged it, any longer it would've caught fire as the product was still throwing out sparks. I followed all instructions and it wasn't even switched to 'on' when this happened, I would not recommend buying this.
