AcuRite 00993ST Digital Cooking Thermometer with Probe

My old digital probe timer quit working so I had to buy another one quickly. I have a hand held one but I use the probe all the time in the Air Fryer and the Oven. I didnt have much time to check them all out and read all the reviews before I ordered this one. It came quickly and I used it that night on some fresh caught Salmon. Sure didnt want to ruin that. Was very easy to set up. The alarm worked great and it was loud enough for me to hear. The salmon was done perfectly. I was impressed with this thermometer as my other one cost way more and had way too many settings on it for me. I am a simple girl, just want to set my temperature and have it alarm when it reaches it. This one is very much more lightweight then my others but hey, it is doing the job perfectly so I am happy.

I had one of these for many years--maybe about 20--and it worked great. It finally died and, of course, I immediately bought another. It is just as reliable as the first one, and very sensitive to temperature changes. Besides for cooking, I even use it to measure the warmth of water I add to the aquarium.

I bought this identical thermometer unit about 8(?) years ago and it has worked great! I had no problems with it and only replaced the batteries in it about 3 times in 8 years - until it quit working. I liked it so much that I bought another just like my old one, assuming that it would be the same quality. I have been very disappointed. The new one goes though about two batteries every 1 - 2 months and I only use it about once every 10 days. It also quit beeping when foods reach their preset temperature so you have to watch the temperature rather than listening for foods to be cooked. and now the battery cover won't stay on.I got tired of finding that the batteries were dead again, just a week after I changed the last ones so I just bought a different brand to try. (and yes, I turned it off after each use) Too bad the quality is so different from the first one I bought.

This one lasts. Three years and counting. I've dropped it, left it out in the rain, and it has survived. The probe is the weakness of these things, this one lasts and lasts. Burned through several other meat thermometers, not this one.UPDATE: Still working fine....after several years...I continue to screw up and leave it outside and sure enough, it gets rained on. (take the batteries out and let it dry out for a few days) and it Still works! Oh yeah, I probably dropped it on the floor ten times over the years. Same meat probe, too!! Amazing!!! I give this thing as a present all the time. Why it's not listed as 5 stars....I don't get it?

This is a very basic, quality thermometer. Product performs exactly as expected. Very easy to set target temperature and leave it to do it's job. The alarm is nicely loud, insistent and unmistakable. "Main" meat temperatures are clearly printed on the back for reference.

This thermometer is great! And so easy to use

Our second one. First one lasted quite a few years, but hubby used it on the bbq grill and it stopped working to perfection. Used this one last week to cook a prime rib roast and it came out perfect!!!

Unit was faulty upon arrival. Didn't turn on. Very cheap and flimsy. Wouldn't trust a good prime rib to this piece of junk.
