An overall great experience
Well designed, great performance and good value. A good indicator of Rikon’s attention to detail is the packaging; protection during shipping, every component wrapped and labeled with clear instructions. By comparison, a popular competitor ships $2,500 jointers in fragile crates made out of 1/8” door skins that in my experience fall apart in transit. It may cost Rikon a few cents more to package properly but it says a lot about their pride in their products and the importance of good customer experience. In use, the dust collection is is excellent, the belt stays aligned under heavy use and the motor is more than adequately powerful My first use of the sander was shaping the edges of 8/4” walnut ovals on the disk, the sander performed very well. Net, well designed, well packaged and it does what it was designed to do without much fuss.

Well Built And Powerful
Solid construction. Belt tension was a bit loose and this caused the belt to slip if anything more than light pressure was applied. Found the spring tensioner stop was too long. Ground down the stop and everything works nicely. Plenty of power, tested with moderate to heavy pressure on the belt and on the disc. No appreciable drag or reduction in RPM. The stand is sturdy and adequate but may be a bit light in weight. That said, there is no tendency for the unit to move or wobble under normal use.

It's what I expected
I am a home hobbyist with many years in the shop. I knew about what to expect and this sander is fine. I wish the table for the belt sander side was larger, but I can add a wood table. It was pretty easy to assemble, took me about twenty minutes. Worked well from the start. The lower part of the body where the rubber foot goes was bent, I suppose in delivery. My wife heard a loud bump when the box was delivered. It was not hard to straighten it enough to get the rubber foot on.I am satisfied.

Belt issue
I like the concept of this machine and all its features, but right now have a major issue with the belt. It is too loose and no matter what adjustments I try it remains loose. I have tried another belt rather than the one that came with the machine but that didn’t solve the issue. I am waiting till after the holidays to call Ricon customer service to see if they can help. I want to follow up on my review and have now given it 5 stars. I called Ricon and was immediately connected to customer support and talked to Rod Burrow who was outstanding. He walked me through the issue and diagnosed the problem and sent a new part out. In this day and age of poor customer service, Ricon is the exception. I am very pleased.

Good quality control,but underbuilt
It's a nice tool, good attention to detail, but the stand is light enough to make Harbor Freight look heavy. When there are rubber feet that slide onto a flat piece of metal, it'll cut right through the foot just sitting there.Otherwise, if you take it as a good tool for non-professional use, it's right on target

I bought from third party which is called yellow hammer industry which is a Authorize tool dealer
The media could not be loaded. Works great just got today only complaint is wish it had graphite cloth for the belt sander part and a bolt for the disc table came manufacture wrong had to make stop at ace hardware I’m sure rikon will credit me if not to worried about it it was only .60$ other than that really great sander just make sure you always buy tool from authorized dealer other wise The manufacture warranty not covered

Great Machine IF You Can Get One Delivered Undamaged...
I ordered this sander because who can't beat this price for something like this. The problem is, the packaging. I ordered and had to return TWO of these because UPS could not get it to me in once piece. What a waste of metal and equipment. Part of it is currier but mostly, the packaging just needs a redesign. Rikon support is great and they actually hear you when you talk to them. They assure me they are working to get the packaging redesigned. I ended up ordering one of these from another site that I knew would ship FedEx and it showed up perfectly. Like I said... IF you can get one in working order, it's a great machine. Plus Rikon support is awesome. Adding photos, first one is of the 3rd machine all set up and the others show some of the damage I experience from multiple sellers.

Good Value
Well designed and manufactured. Plastic dust shields are cheap ABS but they work.
