Vic Firth American Classic 5AN - Nylon Tip

I bought these for my granddaughter, and was delighted to see they look and feel exactly like the ones I had 40+ years ago. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Great job Vic Firth!!!

This review is about Vic Firth Doubleglazed 5A drumsticks. I have used the regular VF 5As for decades, love them, but they always tend to slide around in my hands due to the lightly glazed finish. I am sure most people don’t mind that low glaze finish, which might be better for sweaty hands. I used to like Regal Tip sticks because they had a lot of glazing, and these VF Doubleglazed are closer to that. They feel more secure in my hands. Now, I hope Vic Firth begins to offer these with nylon tips.

It’s pretty lightweight and is very fun to play drums with. The noise level is a little loud because of the drums. Very good grip and you can play really fast.

These take me back. My drum teacher told me to put my thumb over the flag, close my fingers, and rotate my wrists 45 degrees in. A quarter century later, I still sometimes find myself checking my grip that way.I’ve been through countless 5AN sticks over the years from Pro mark, Zildjian, Vater, and even Ahead (maker of the “unbreakable” metal drumstick—clad, incidentally, in highly breakable plastic sheaths.)Anyways, these are the best. They feel the best, and they are super durable.I play harder than basically any other drummer I have ever met, and I can get these to last, relatively.I used to buy pro mark by the brick. They were okay, but these are better.Whatever you do, just don’t ever buy a Zildjian drumstick. They make their electronic drum sets look good by comparison.

My son has had a ton of drum sticks. He absolutely loves these! They take a beating!!

First, Vic Firth 5As are my favorite drum sticks.Second, the sticks did not come taped together like another reviewer mentioned. No sticky residue.Lastly, they did not come in a big box like another reviewer mentioned. They came in a smaller, recyclable paper envelope.Everything was great!
