For heavy use it's a bargain.
This is the second one of these I've purchased. In the interim I've bought many other brands of AA powered headlights, but they never offer the combination of brightness, toughness, and durability that this Princeton Tec light brings to the table. The way I see it, you can either buy ten other lights in the $10 to $30 range, or one of these.

Awesome product!
I have three of these lights and use them all the time. They have a lifetime warranty so if anything happens to it just send it back to the manufacturer and they will send you new ones. The weak link is the cable between the light and the battery so be careful with that part.

Disappointed
When I saw this headlamp online at first I was interested because it's made in the USA and very bright, so I bought it to use at work. Unfortunately I've been nothing but disappointed. The first one they sent lasted about 4 months before it would automatically shut off then eventually stopped turning on. Changing batteries did nothing. I emailed them and they had me send it back for warranty (I had to pay for shipping, unfortunately). A month later they sent me another one that once again lasted for about 4 months then suffered the same issue of shutting off immediately after turning it on, followed shortly by the headlamp not turning on at all. The headlamp itself chews through batteries quickly even when not at full power and is rather bulky. I was fine with that because my job requires me to use it pretty constantly and supplies batteries, but the constant failure of both headlamps I've used has really disappointed me. Save your money and buy something else

super bright works great
Already had 2 of these and they work awesome. They do eat batteries if used on bright . The new switches are a little different but the headlamps are durable and brIGHT

Worked great for 3 weeks but...
Headlamp worked great for 3 weeks as my sole source of light outside of camp at night. Wide bean and spotlight were outstanding. Battery drain was as yo be expected by brightness used. Then issues started with it randomly (or so I thought) shutting off.Major design flaw as the cable severed itself where goes into battery compartment. Initially thought was due to cold solder joint after ensuring battery was not the issue. Cable is too rigid and if packed in pocket or backpack may become an issue with bending at battery compartment termination.Bought a Lightbar Pro as a replacement.

Great while they worked during their VERY short lives.
I've purchased several of these over the years and they have all been great and have lived very hard lives. I decided to get another one and had it replace it 2 times because they quit working. The 3rd one has now failed. All 3 new ones have received VERY light use. It seems like maybe they are now using very cheap and faulty wire to go between the battery pack and the headlamp. Just jiggle the wire slightly it it goes out. The electrical connections at the ends seem good. I'm glad I never tried to use one of these new ones back in my caving days! The first one lasted for about 1 hour of use. The 2nd and 3rd ones lasted for about 3 hours of use. I'll be looking for another brand of headlamp to buy.
