Does it have a microphone and how good is it?

Works well on my phone and PC for taking calls at least.

One customer claims it has volume control. Unless I'm missing something, it does not have remote volume control.

It does not have volume control per se, but it can be configured. There are +/- buttons on the part of the cord where the mike is. The default on an iphone is those buttons skip the song forward and back. In settings/control center, you can redefine these buttons to use as volume control. I suspect that android operating systems have something similar.

Do these have same length left and right cables

Yes. The cables are the same size.

Can I get an answer on exactly how long the cord is?
