Tibetan Mala Dark Yak Bone Mala 108 Beads for Meditation with Bone Counters BM-25

I have to admit that I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality of this mala. I didn't figure it would be this high a quality for the price, but figured why not give it a shot. I'm glad I did. I love it! The only complaint I would have is that the beads seem a bit smaller than 8mm, but I could be wrong. Most of my other malas have 10mm beads, so my judgement might be off a bit. Other than that, this mala is great. The yak bone beads seem to be genuine, though I'm no expert, and, most impressively, they're strung on a very high quality string, NOT elastic. The beads were strung very tightly when first received, but the mala is adjustable and now I've got it exactly how I like it. I'm very impressed with the quality and you can't go wrong with the price.

I am very satisfied with the dark brown yak beads. When I ordered I thought I was getting the lighter colored beads because of the picture. I didn’t read the details that said they were the dark beads. But I’m still satisfied with this product.

Many of the beads, while beautifully-polished, were marked with partial drill marks, highly concave in spots (concavity is normal in bone beads due to the characteristics of the bones, but should be kept to a reasonable level). Roughly 25% were a good distance from perfection, and some not even acceptable. The stringing was okay, although the counters were a bit looser than I like personally. I normally restring my malas anyway, so that was not a big deal to me but it might be to someone who intends to use the mala daily, especially if they wear it. OVERALL, however, the beads are gorgeous and the mala is certainly suitable for display on an altar or on the wall. I bought a second one, picked out the best beads, and restrung them as two 52-bead malas. I'm wearing the result as I write this.

I realized that the beads were the wrong size, too small. That is my fault. But after that the side counters did not stay put so they are not useful in the long term. Then the string run through the beads was stretched/ became stretched out to an alarming degree. There is a good inch between the beads now which makes them super difficult to count on. And it has only been a couple of months. No good.
