Every 3 or 4 weeks or so our broadband router gets itself into a no-internet state, I suspect from hack attempts. If I am there, I can simply power-cycle it. If I am 1,500 miles away I can't access our network and there is nothing I can do about it.I can't use a smart socket to power-cycle the router because that depends on a functioning internet connection, and when it has clagged, it isn't.This just happened and was very inconvenient for most of a week. Cue Oridget 24hr timer to turn the router off once a day and back on after a minute. If when the router gets its knickers round its neck, it will be reset within 24hrs by the timer.It works, and has an internal rechargeable battery to retain clock time and programmes even if there's a power cut (we had one of those too). Set-up is well explained, but can be complicated if you want to use some of the more sophisticated options. Just make sure you start by setting the clock! Then know what you want to achieve, and follow the appropriate instructions. This version can only handle 24hrs, and then repeats every day, but you can have 3 distinct programmes with quite complicated sequences. There is a multi-day version, if that is what you need - just read the listing carefully and buy the right one.edit: 3 months on and this thing is both reliable and has zero issues. I'd buy another one if I needed it.Reading one of the other reviews, which is negative, I think the logic error is with the user - who demands a passive v active mode. This is impossible, since the controlled device must be on to be controlled by the timer. If it's off at it's integral switch it is disconnected as surely as if it was unplugged. No external timer can control something which is not connected.

This is one of the best products I have ever bought.My old, mechanical circular timer had developed a permanent 'clickety-clack' noise that was so disturbing and annoying.So I looked on Amazon for one that said it was 'silent', and went for this one.Absolutely true as advertised. The digital set up instructions were really easy to follow and worked first time. It looks great. Switches on and off exactly at the set times.And above all, completely silent!Thoroughly recommended.

Reliable and cost effective.Messy to programme if you bwant multiple settings on one day and/or different setting on different days.

I was looking for a seconds timer for a pet misting system that required operations for 20 to 30 seconds a day maximum. I found this model timer and using the cycle mode I could achieve this at a much reduced cost compared to available pet timers. The instructions could be a little better but, so far, its proven very useful.

So far very happy with this product.Like many have commented, there can be a tiny issue with pushing a plug in. A good firm push can be needed sometimes, but it will go in and does not damage the unit and it works fine.The instructions are clear and easy to follow, both pictures and text, which is in good English. Set the clock first then follow the steps of the timer type you require.So far everything's working well and keeping good time. I'd be happy to buy another of these if I needed it.
