I bought these to put in biscotti and brownies. They are exactly what I need. In the past, I've purchased swankier, more expensive candied orange peel, and it's beautifully, perfectly soft and delectable and came from Italy on the wings of a now extinct bird or whatever it was my friend told me when she said that's what I needed. It wasn't. The expensive stuff is wonderful when the candied orange peel is standing alone with a dip of dark chocolate and needs to be extra fancy or as garnish for the top of a special occasion cake, but for regular weekend baking, like the biscotti in the photograph, this is what you need. A pan of brownies becomes something special with a big handful of these chopped to bits and thrown into the batter. Scatter some dark chocolate chips across the top for a real treat. This Christmas, I plan to make classic fruitcake for our family's socially distant gathering this Christmas, and this orange peel will absolutely be in it.I only gave one star for "Giftable" because most folks aren't as enthusiastic about baking products as I can be.

Making a cake of my grandmother's today with this peel. It is certainly highly superior to anything I can buy in any store around here. Moist, tender flavorful,l attractive large pieces. I ate several in the process. No bitterness. And the price was more than fair. You might get better candied peel if you made your own from scratch, but I would rather not. I highly recommend this product and I will buy it again.The questionnaire asked if I found this peel "giftable," It comes in a heavy plastic zip-lock bag. As a baker, I would consider it a good gift, but the presentation is utilitarian. So don't expect to receive a fancy glaceed fruit pinwheel in a decorative tin or anything like that. It's a high quality cooking ingredient as presented and as such it exceeds expectation. Thank you.

Just like they make it in France. Not too hard & taste great. Nice snack or great to use to elevate your baking. One of the things that make my hot crossed buns or french brioche galette just shine. You will love them!!!

I bought these to use in a chutney recipe. When the orange peel arrived, it was very sticky on the outside, almost dripping in syrup. The flavor was rather bitter as well. After making the chutney recipe, I put the remaining peel in a mason jar, closed it tightly and put it in the pantry. Five months later, I rediscovered the jar and was surprised to see such a great improvement in taste and texsture. The sticky syrup had been absorbed, resulting in a tastier peel with almost no bitterness. Now, my family has found the new and improved peel. They have practically eaten the entire jar.

First, let me say I love using this product. I started using it several years ago to make cranberry orange yeast bread, and it is always a hit. My husband calls it candy bread because the fruit is sweet and delicious. When I started buying it, it was packed in a sturdy plastic pouch and I never had any problems with damage during shipping. Since they have changed the packaging to flimsy salad bar containers there has only been 1 package out of the last 5 I have ordered that was not damaged. The other containers were damaged to a degree that I did not feel comfortable using the product. I had stopped ordering for a while and recently tried a different brand. It came in a sturdier container, and had a protective wrap and was placed in a padded bag. It arrived undamaged. I took this as a hopeful sign Amazon had improved their shipping practices and ordered the Olive Nation orange peels again. My hopes were dashed. Still the same flimsy salad bar container, no extra padding around it, not in a protective padded bag, stuck in my monthly shipment box with a case of coffee filters, and 2 coffee cans and some other smaller items.. Lid was completely popped off and sticky syrup was on all the items in box. There is just no point in ordering this item ever again unless packaging changes for the better. So the 1 star is totally because of bad packaging and shipping practice and not the product itself.

I found these a much more inexpensive option and just as good as the tiny jars. Just put them in a jar add some simple syrup stick in the fridge and there you have it.

Candied orange peel is a very labor intensive process to make. I make it at home butrarelynhave more than a few ounces because it takes 4-5 hours to complete. I ordered this product because I wanted extra for the Christmas season. It was a bit disappointing. It has very little flavor. Mine that I make is sweet but has a tart zing to it. This product was just flat to me Sorry The service was quick and the price was reasonable. I would probably like it better if I had never made some myself

I'm always hesitant to buy perishables through Amazon, especially when the purchase doesn't fall w/in a Prime delivery window... one never knows if the item is fresh or about to expire. I took a chance based on other reviews, people seemed pleased with this product. I was hosting a dinner party and was running short on time to make my own candied orange peels for Italian Margaritas. These arrived w/in an extended delivery window, but still on time, and were still fresh. The shipping box also wasn't crushed, which is a shout-out not to UPS, but to the actual small business and employee who packed it correctly- thank you!! Overall, I'll buy again, especially since my next dinner party commands traditional Margaritas with candied lemon peel! Really happy with OliveNation!
