Q: is this electric version more powerful than the micro-pedi man?

No but the battery operated version uses too many batteries. The strength is in the what I call Emory board or nail file part. In the long run the electric one saves $$.

Shelly, The cord is detachable and it is 70 inches (165 cms) long. It is a nice long cord.

I have the long electric powered micro-pedi and it works great. I don't have the palm-sized one ,but it couldn't work better than the electric one. You will not be disappointed if you get the long handle Emjoi Micro-Pedi.
