Q: What is the difference between this and the red cans?

Red can the fluid is tan in color. Black can fluid is black in color.

Q: Should i apply this myself? i understand that i "can", but should i? do i need to avoid moving parts? rubber bushings? avoid anythign?

Easy to apply. Simple DIY. Doesn’t harm anything really. Just keep off brakes.

Q: Is this 3-pack enough for one mid-sized truck, like a Toyota Tacoma?

I would say probably not, I used all 3 cans in my 2 door Jeep Wrangler, which is much shorter. 3 will hit most of the bottom visible areas, but it you are wanting to cover inside of frame and other hidden areas, I say 4 or 5 is better.
