Goodbye Comcast equipment fees!
I think i made the right code by purchasing this Cable modem router, I had three Comcast rental modem and i decided to have my own modem instead of paying 10$ a month! Here is what I think when comparing this to Comcast modem/router:Design: the TP-Link N300 is slimmer and more stylish than Comcast modem, it has elegant look, slim on the edges and little wider in the middle, fits with my furniture more than the bulky Comcast modemSetup: Its very easy to follow instructions, basically you plug it in, and plug there cable, wait for all the lights to be solid, then either your phone, tablet or laptop, you connect to the wifi (SSID and wifi password are written on separate card and also on the bottom of the router), then it will automatically take you to Comcast activation page, it only asked me to put my account number and phone number, click continue, then the router restart, it took about 10 Minutes for all the lights to be solid again, then i was all set, connected to internet.Internet Speed: internet speed was the same as before, nothing more or less, I didn't have any streaming problems, I have all kinds of streaming services, all worked fine.Wifi Range: it still covered my entire apartment, But maybe for bigger places, you could need a repeater, which is easy to install.I think for the price, this can be one of the best modem/routers out there, I don't think you would regret purchasing it.

Product is garbage
I am having problems running Netflix on my Xbox One S with this modem/router combo. I've reset the router/modem, reset my Xbox, tried port forwarding, tried a DMZ, etc. I used a hotspot from my phone and the Xbox works fine with Netflix. I've received no help from the support team after contacting them. I will not buy a TP Link product again.UPDATE: If you have any problems with XBOX or a game console you need to connect it to the Guest Network. TP link tech support was very helpful. Here are the step by step instructions that they provided me that work:After logging in, please follow these steps:1. Click "Advanced" at the top2. Click "Wireless 2.4G" on the left3. Click "Guest Network" on the left4. Make sure the both "Allow guests to see each other" and "Allow guests to access my local network" are checked5. Check the box that says "Enable Guest Network"6. In the "Name (SSID)" field, type the preferred name of your network. We recommend giving it a slightly different name than your main network, so your XBOX can easily identify it.7. For Security, select "WPA/WPA2-Personal"8. In the Wireless Password box, type in your current Wi-Fi password9. Click "Save" and wait a few moments10. Click the "Reboot" asterisk in the top right to reboot the router and apply the changes.

Wireless Fails --- This has not been a good product
I felt like I should post a review about this product to help others not make the same mistake I did. I purchased this modem so that I could avoid renting a Cable Modem from Xfinity. The price of $79 seemed reasonable for Modem/Wireless router. Basically the LAN ports work just fine, I have two hard wired pc's that never lose connection. However the wireless is horribly unreliable. I am now having to power cycle the modem 3-4 times a day to regain wireless connectivity. I am very aware of this because I stream our TV through Sling and it's constantly dropping out. At first I was having Xfinity service technicians trouble shooting the issue because I thought it was service provider speed issue but after 2 attempts it was proven that Xfinity was not the root cause. I even contacted SlingTV and they reset my account and made sure everything was up to date. Which lead me to the last variable of the equation, the modem. I wish i would have started here 1st. After reading other reviews I realize that the issue was clearly the modem. It seems as if many others have the same problem as I have. I love that everyone posted the reply from TP-LINK so you can see how automated and not helpful it is. I tried changing channels, only using 802.11n, disabling guest WiFi...all with no success. You can't update the firmware because it's locked.I purchased this product December 28, 2016It's possible I got a lemon since nearly 10,000 people gave it 5 stars (Which is the main reason I purchased this item)

Good - Easy to set up - Works out of ...
12-MONTH UPDATEHave had it for more than 12 months now, so it more than paid for itself. However, wifi connections kept getting dropped. So, I have now paired it with a Google WiFi Router and the pair works perfectly now to give me reliable and fast wifi internet all over my home.— Original Review Follows —SummaryI bought this because it was cheaper than 12 months of rental from Comcast.Good- Easy to set up- Works out of the box with Comcast/Xfinity- Good speed (more than what Comcast provides with my level of subscription)Bad- I had to reset this every few days when my wifi devices get discounted- WiFi connection speed were lower than the wired connectionNOTE: As my name implies, I intend to update my reviews throughout the lifetime of this product. I will update this review with changes I experience with this product as I encounter them. Thank you for reading.
