Q: The description says it can accommodate dogs from 0-100 lbs. Is that 100lbs total between both dogs? Or each dog can be up to 100 lbs (200lbs total?)

My dogs are 65 lbs and 45 lbs. I believe the straps would hold 100 lbs each. The hardware is really the venerable part in the equation. However the hardware looks like it can support some hefty yanking. I do think if it were my dogs in question I would ask the manufacturer directly. I'm not sure if my answer gives you any real direction.

Q: Will this work with a retractable leash?

Honestly I would tell you know because of past experiences with retractable leash is not being extremely strong or sturdy. But if you have smaller dogs on it it could work as long as the dogs don’t pull hard. The least connection it self could be heavy so again it would depend upon how strong the leash retraction is

Q: Can you use it with a gentle leader?

I don't know what a "gentle leader" means. But sure, you can use it with any kind of lead. Does that mean a gentle person is leading the dogs? Or that leader of the pack is gentle?

I really couldn’t say for sure myself. The coupler material seems to be about the same strength as a regular leash. It is certainly worth giving it a try. No more tangled leashes and they have the opportunity to keep themselves well separated. My Jack Russells were about 20 lbs each, so there is no comparison. The biggest problem I faced was when my old boy had to pee, had to squat because he didn’t have the strength to stand on three legs, and it took him a little longer, and his much younger sister saw something exciting and dragged him off with her. No one was hurt, actually amusing. I have used these couplers since 1979 and think they are wonderful. If one is not strong enough, maybe you could use two together since you will attach to a harness (not on the neck unless you plan to choke them to death. ) I would definitely buy one again and recommend to others. I even have one that can be used by three dogs, as long as they are of similar size.
